Area youngsters here in the Keweenaw were recently treated to a preview of what it will be like to play on the big field when it comes to High School Football. The Copper Country Football Camp was held at Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools, Warner Athletic Field last week, with kids and coaches from around the area and as far away as Ontonagon, in attendance. It was a three day week of football fun, learning the basics of the game and how to execute them. One of those kids on the field was of special interest to me... my grandson, Zavier! He's the good-looking young man in the last two photos, with the white shirt and tan shorts. A future Lakes player in the making!

On a side note: Take a good look at the first photo and see if you can figure out what's missing? Check back later today and I'll post the answer, along with a couple more photos. Sorry, no prizes, just the prestige of being the first to figure it out! ;->

Seems hard to believe football season is just about here. How fast this year has gone!

The smoke stack is gone.

The photos remind me of playing football at Palmer Park in Detroit years ago. Now, they are going to close that park along with many others to save money.

I'm not sure about this football game; where are the refs??? I see:

Too many men (or in this case, boys) on the field
Pass interference
Holding
Illegal block in the back

Unless of course, this is a Lions game and the refs are feeling sorry..... ;-)

A lot more things go on in Palmer Park for kids than any other park Detroit wants to close.

Chuck K was the first one with the correct answer...way to go! Yes, that's right...Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools, recently had to remove
the majority of the long-standing chimney and cap it with a metal vent, since the bricks were starting to deteriorate and fall to the sidewalk
below.
