Some Upper Michigan folks show up in California in today’s photo. They're all native Yoopers having been born and raised in Lake Linden and I think Marquette, too. The pictures are courtesy of James Hoffman, Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army and Uncle of the young lady being pinned for her promotion. Julie Hoffman was promoted from Lieutenant Commander, to Commander in the U.S. Navy and she requested that her Grandpa, John Hoffman come to Camp Pendleton in California, to do the honors of pinning Julie with her new rank. John himself, had not donned his U.S. Air Force Uniform in 40 years, when he retired with the rank of Technical Sergeant. That's Julie's Dad, Gary, in the last photo wearing the brown suit and looking quite proud of his daughter. A very special day for this family of Yoopers and I thought the perfect way for us here at Pasty Central to commend all our service men and women on this day we celebrate Armed Forces Day. A big thank you, to our military personnel, whether active or retired and Congratulations Julie!

Going to be a special tribute to Vietnam Veterans at Lambeau Field here in Green Bay next week. There is an exhibit at Heritage Hill State Park in Allouez now. Let's hope those Vietnam vets can attend.

Our salute to all Armed Forces, past or present.
Especially nice to see this as our oldest daughter Alice was honored this way twice in the Air Force and we weren't able to attend. (She's now retired after 20 plus years!)

We flew our flag today out front as we do most every day!

Congrats to Commander Julie and all the Hoffman family! Our son was recently promoted to Lt. Commander at Fort Hood in Augusta, Georgia. His mother and I pinned him!

Paul, congratulations to you and your wife (and your son) on his promotion! Bet you were almost as proud as you were the day he came into your life!:)
And, Russell, we thank your daughter for her 20 years spent serving our country!
