Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools recently completed a brand new track around the perimeter of the football field, so they were all set to host their first track meet this past Friday, but the weather didn't cooperate, so it was post-poned to this past Tuesday. The weather then wasn't much better, except we didn't have any snow in the forecast, just cold and possible rain, which didn't come. That didn't stop the athlete's from competing or the fans from turning out to cheer them on. One of those fans was Krista Chamberlain, who snapped the first three action shots.... with the top one being her daughter Kyleigh completing a race and heading toward the finish line. Then she captured a group of hurdlers, with a Lakes team mate striding over, showing off his winning form. The third shot of the guys rounding the curve is classic track for sure, with arms and legs pumping. Take a look at the three Lakes competitors, they're all in unison, like they choreographed the whole thing. GO LAKES!

The last photo was taken by another fan who braved the cold temps, Judy Byykkonen and it shows the tents that some of the kids (or maybe coaches) brought along to warm up in. Now that's some Yooper survival instinct!

Brings back good memories when in 1971, ninth grade, my best track season! My claim to fame was the 100 yd dash, time 12:03 seconds. Wish I was still that quick today! lol!

It is great to see the students using the new track. This should help out in improving their times as they will now be able to have good training conditions. Here in Wyandotte I get to watch my grandson compete with other large grade schools twice a week. Last week the kids had 36 boys line up for the 100 Meter dash, just from their 7th and 8th grades.
Good luck LAKES with the upcoming District meet.

The flag in the last shot reveals the wind you've had this week in the Copper Country. On our current trip out to Utah we have seen some of the most amazing wind. In Wyoming a semi truck in front of us went up on two wheels when a gust hit broadside. Edie and I have appreciated the Pasty Cam to stay in touch with home while we've been out west for the birth of our granddaughter.

Running around the track in a stiff, cold wind is a memory I've not recalled for years. Gives me shivers.

Hey Charlie, I don't suppose you'd have any pictures of the new arrival since mother and daughter made it home this week?

A timely question, RD. After posting today's Pasty Cam I was checking out Becky and Bryan's family blog where these former yooper kids have chronicled their life out west for the past couple of years. Here's one of my favorites, as Kira has been able to spend some time with her new little sister:

Beautiful family photo above. Congrats! Also- I have to say- it was wonderful to have the Lakes Invitational Track Meet in Lake Linden at long last. Our community loves and supports its young people!

My what a great picture! Maybe one later with daddy in it? I'm jealous of all that hair! All my babies were over 2 years old before they needed their bangs trimmed! Congratulations to everyone!
