There are several U.P. rivers in today's review. Name two of them.

First Post
Big Iron River actually appears twice, in 2000 and in 2008

Tobacco River & Red River. (Also Big Iron River & Eagle River.)
close second
The 2008 caption about "Red river running" referred to the water's color. It is actually the Big Iron River

WOW! It's fun seeing the Eagle River Falls running so nicely. The one of the Tobacco was great too. My hubby's been up there and tried fishing but he said the water's nearly as low as it is in the summer. He was bummed!!!

Have a great day!

NEWS FLASH: The Shelter Challenge Winners were announced, and CCHS WON the first place prize of $10,000

That's awesome, Charlie, thank you for the great news! And thanks to Donna and all who reminded people to vote, and to all who voted! We have evidence of the true power of Pasty.com! :-)

"Big" Arnold Wirtanen, who many years ago operated the White Pine Inn and the Candle Light Inn near Ontonagon, used to say that river was named after him: The Big Arn.

I can't help but wonder how much $ we'd have if everyone that voted just tossed a dollar in the hat? I'll betcha we could have beat that $10,000!

Or, alternately, how much $ per vote cast would it take to match that $10,000?

frnash,
clever thinking.

i read that 5.2 million votes were cast in the
shelter challenge. cchs received maybe 3% of the
vote. that's 156000 votes for cchs. a dollar per
vote would yield alot more than $10K.

yeah, i know. some of us couldn't contribute
a dollar for each vote we submitted.

anyway, congratulations to all who supported cchs.

To everyone of us who faithfully voted for the CCHS, how about we each find a local shelter to support. I'm fairly active in our Heartland Pet Welfare group, a nokill cat shelter. Every so often I empty my piggy bank of the pennys, nickls and dimes I toss in after shopping. You'd be surprised how much that can help. Last week it was $11.20. And remember them when you need a loving companion who never questions who you are, how you think, just needs some loving!
