You know you're a Yooper if you look out the window and a horse is grazing right next to your house. Brenda Leigh spotted this scene as she was driving by, in Menominee and said she slammed on her brakes to get a picture or two. That's about all she was able to snap, before the horse came to investigate what she and her car were doing there, probably hoping she had something good to eat. Brenda didn't notice until after she was back at home and looking at her photos, that if you look real closely at the windows of the house, you'll see a cat sitting in each one, watching everything transpire in the U.P. out-of-doors. I'm guessing an animal that grazes for food, like this horse, is quite glad that we're having an early spring, since it can find a good dinner in just about anyone's yard.

Do you think the owner knew if the horse was loose?

"Pardon me waiter, but there is a fly in my soup."
"Oh yeah? Well, there is a horse in my grass."

Alex, maybe the "grass" you mention is the kind you smoke and the "horse" is the kind you inject...Oh, happy day (LOL)!

Be careful how much of the fresh, lush green grass that horse consumes...too much will cause founder, a crippling disease of the hooves that there is no cure for.

I wonder if the grass the horse was grazing on was treated with chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Maybe the residue from snow and ice treatment of nearby roads also was present. Something to consider when allowing horses and cattle, etc., to graze freely.

Love the pictures today. Mary's commentary about the cats sitting in each window had me chuckling. Have a lovely weekend, everyone! Time for me to go do some plant repotting. :)

ahhh too cute! I love the pics. Reminds me of the many times we woke up to the crunch, crunch of our neighbors cows munching the grass in our yard.
