If you notice the 2007 picture, gas prices were a lot cheaper. This morning gas was $2.97 at the I-96/M-52 interchange here east of Lansing. The story about $3.00 gas by Memorial Day weekend looks more believable.

Richard Wieber and Cindy Pihlaia Russell...thank you for your good wishes. My husband,Bill, underwent his hip replacement surgery on St.Patricks Day. Maybe the fact that he is Irish helped, who knows. At any rate,he is now in ICU and will be there until tomorrow and then he will be sent to the rehab floor. He is doing fine.
The staff at the VA Hospital in Miami have been wonderful and I am hoping Bill will be home soon.

Well, tomorrow is the big day; the day DrNat leaves for England to defend her position on climate change and go toe-to-toe with the supposed "experts" on the subject. The only thing is she's starting to get nervous about the whole deal. I believe if she had a few well wishes from the good folks of the PastyCam it may ease a bit of those butterflies knowing she has support. And, how many other ISP's around the country can boast to have one of its members attend such an important conference?? ;-)

By Bob Jewell, Farmington Hills (Rjewell) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 05:14 pm:

Best wishes at the conference Dr. Nat. You have the support of the PastyCammers.

By Yooperguide (Huntandfish) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 05:23 pm:

Captain Paul; so what is Dr. Nat's postition on climate change? Would like to know if you think it's Global Warming, which I do. My opinion is that we have harmed and polluted this place, what do you think? Now we have earthquake drills in the Midwest, glad I'm UP here.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 06:18 pm:

You'll do fine Dr Nat. You should be more nervous about eating the food. It takes some getting used to. I don't know if it is possible, but maybe you could suggest an alternative to global warming so I can ride the motorcycle well into December. Just kidding...good luck and break-a-leg!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 06:43 pm:

Dr Nat...the fact that you are a participant in an event of global importance implies that you clearly know your stuff. Believe it! You'll do great! Send us a Cheeri-O from jolly old England.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 07:28 pm:

Dr. Nat good luck. You know you're stuff so just go for it. Remember you are speaking for the rest of you know. ( And don't be nervous... all those folks put their britches on one leg at a time like all the rest of us do)

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 07:48 pm:

Dr. Nat, you'll do well; you're going to nail it!
IMHO, you know far more hard scientific facts about the issue than the political gas bags that make the most noise about it. {smile}

P.S. I'm dying to see a "trip report"!

Yooperguide (Huntandfish):
"… so what is Dr. Nat's postition [sic] on climate change?"

Have you been following the discussion on the Global Warming thread? If so you'd have a pretty good hunch what Dr. Nat's position is by now.

Wonderful recorded history.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 10:05 pm:

GO GET EM' DR. NAT.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, March 18, 2010 - 10:07 pm:

Dr. Nat, give those English Pig Dogs both barrels, oh wait, your trip is something else. I was thinking of the reenactment English. Good luck and smooth flying. Don't forget to try the pasty over there and report back on them. Your admirer Mikie.

By Russell E. Emmons (Russemmons) on Friday, March 19, 2010 - 12:25 am:

Our friend, Hancock resident, regular pasty-cammer here Helen M Chamberlain was to have hip replacement I believe March 16 at Marquette. Haven't heard for sure or how it went as yet. Has anyone here?
Anyhow our thoughts, prayers, best wishes that everything went OK for her and on behalf of others here I'm sure!

Is the 2005 picture the rockpile just outside of Mohawk where the old Ahmeek 3 & 4 mine was?
