We've all been talking spring with the sunshine, warming temperatures and melting snow, but Patty Rheault found some proof that it is here. That's a crocus that she spotted in her flower garden, where the snow had been just a week or two before. These sure are hardy little flowers, coming up while it's still not all that warm for growing. And thank goodness they do, because they add some color to a season that doesn't have much, except for various shades of brown.

The flowers are starting to come up . Also the Yellow Finches are starting to turn Yellow. Yesterday I counted 38 Finches at the six feeders we have in the front yard.

Found this quote:

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.

Ok, a week ago we stopped at the Hut for lunch and saw some small yellow flowers at the entry garden that I thought were crocusses. My question is what were they.

Here's a screen capture of what our voting has done and an idea of what we can do. I've kept track of data since the 13. We could be in second place by the end of the month. Can we make 1st place by the 18 of April?

Crocuses! Signs of spring to be sure, along with yesterdays photos of the St. Mary's river. A few days ago already the St. Mary's looked thawed on the MODIS Imagery of Lake Superior from space. (Thanks to Sharon Smith for this awesome link!! on her March 8 journal) Looks like shipping can start anytime now if it hasn't already. Very nice photos, thanks all!
