Back on January 8, 2004, is when we first met the young lady in the top photo, who was busy shoveling out her car, after being stuck in the driveway. Her Dad, Clyde Elmblad snapped that photo back then and just recently sent me another shot of Megan with a different car. This time she's not stuck, but had the misfortune of hitting a deer, which caused a bit of damage to her car, but thankfully nobody was hurt in the mishap. Clyde says Megan wasn't too keen on having this photo on the Pasty Cam and mentioned something about a "world of hurt" if it did appear, but he said he was willing to take his chances, since he's very proud of his daughter. Not for the car/deer accident, but because since that earlier photo appeared in 2004, Megan has completed a BS in Biological Sciences and is currently working at Michigan Tech. Way to go, Megan!

Oh, I almost forgot... not to worry about Megan getting her car fixed, Clyde added that she has two Uncles who are insurance agents, so she should be covered! :->

Oops!!
Oh well; one of the dangers of driving in the great white north.....

You have to watch for deer pretty carefully out here too. Glad she's okay!

Happens to the best of us! Last week my daughter's car slid into both sides of an snowy, icy bridge. Auto body shops are staying very busy. This is what keeps my hubby's paychecks coming every week! Glad Megan wasn't hurt!

Megan is becoming quite a celebrity here on the Pasty Cam and I wonder why! I guess I'll have to take the "can of you know what" she'll be opening on me like a man.

Unfortunately, accidents happen and thank God nobody was hurt in this one. We all need to be focused and drive defensively when we're behind the wheel. Using common sense like wearing our seat belts, driving the speed limit, zero alcohol use and putting the cell phone down will helps save lives.

With that said, I need to go and prepare myself for the "world of hurt" I will be receiving.

I wish we had more snow her in the Iron Mountain area! Forget the Caribbean for your next tropical vacation, just come to Dickinson county, the banana belt of the U.P!

Glad Megan is okay. Slowing down when visibility and road conditions are poor is important, too. Many congratulations to her on receiving her B.S. in Biological Sciences at Michigan Tech. I got mine there, too (1992). Tech was/is a great school, and if I had to do it all over again, I would still go there.

Thanks for 'sharing' Megan 'in the snow', Clyde, but remind her that she needs to pull those jacket hoods over that pretty head.....to keep away cold-weather sniffles. Sorry for the 'big mouth advice', I guess one never gets over being a 'cause mom (dad) said so' type.;) So glad her encounter with the deer left her unscathed!

Just be glad it's "only" a deer...I have a friend in Alaska, who told me that MOOSE get hit up there, like the deer do here!! We aren't doing so bad!

But it still bites....and so glad no one got hurt!

By Dale Beitz (Dbeitz) on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 - 01:58 pm:

The thing is, unlike hitting a deer, after you hit a moose with your car the moose will still be standing there. It will then walk over to your window and say "Why did you hit me?" (grin)
