Chris Gariepy was recently out enjoying the Keweenaw by snowmobile and his group ended up at the top of the Cliffs to take in the view from a higher elevation. Those first two shots illustrate how high up these guys really are, as you can see if you walked just a bit further to the edge, you'd drop right off. If you've ever been up there in the summer, you know how steep the face of the Cliffs can be, then add in the element of snow on the ground and you won't want to take any chances getting too close to those edges. Of course no snowmobiling excursion would be complete without at least one "stuck" incident, so Chris himself, did it up right in the last shot. Looks like it's a good thing he didn't quite make it up that little jump there, since his machine is aimed right for a tree. Happy trails everyone!

Now, this is my kind of a way to spend snowy winter days! My Indy Classic has reverse, which has countlessly saved me from getting stuck, I just simply back out.

Used to hike around that area back a number of years ago .. the road that goes up from old 26, through the 'gap', will take you north down the back side, and finally out at the Eagle River Cemetary.

Beautiful, but I'd be more impressed if I saw snow shoes instead of snowmobiles. :)

In the last picture, what is the object stuck in the snow to the right of the tree, near the edge of the picture?

Nope, not a helmet it's a snowmobile part, the part that makes you wanna part and head home.

I'm happy to see a snowmobile. Living in Colorado Springs you (or at least I) don't see them. Maybe it's just where I live in town but it's still nice to see snowmobile tracks instead of ski tracks.
