Digging into the respective shoeboxes of Seeking Michigan and The Making of Modern Michigan we find a couple of early 1900 winter scenes, contrasting methods in the Upper and Lower peninsulas for pulling a sled. The top photo was taken just before the 1906 ski jump competition in Negaunee, and the second is a scene from a family farm near Sterling Heights.
One long-time resource for Shoebox Memories and our Day in History feature has been the U.P. Digitization Project. The last few days the website has not been available, and we're wondering if it has been replaced by the role of other overlapping state library projects. Appreciate any insight on the subject you might be able to share.
Have a good week :o)

What a dog in the first picture! He looks tuff! I'd love to have one like him.
