If the winter snowing and blowing is getting you down, here UP North, maybe it's time to get outside and do something fun. Here's an idea from Brenda Leigh, that looks like a good time and is something relaxing at the same time. How often do you enjoy a bonfire in the summertime? Well, it's time you grab some snowshoes, get out in the snow and get one going. It'll warm you up and calm your frazzled nerves...just don't forget to take some Vollwerth hot dogs along to fuel YOUR fires, so you have enough energy to get back home.

Wow...very cool...literally. Nice pics....Nice trip into the woods!!!

By Donna (Donna) on Saturday, January 30, 2010 - 07:00 am:

Actually...is it in the woods or the backyard? With chairs, a table, a brew...I'm thinking that wasn't walked too far into the sticks....although, with the snowshoes...OK Brenda...time for the scoop!!!

Looks like a good time!

A snowshoeing afternoon with a fire, hot dogs, hot chocolate,
and some sunshine is the perfect formula for a happy, healthy
family! Compared to theme parks, movies in expensive
googleplex theatres and other packaged entertainment, a winter
afternoon outdoors is a priceless investment. Plus, you can do it
on Iversons and support your neighbors right here in Michigan.
Go Shingleton!

It's remarkably calm and quiet here just south of the Muskegon
breakwater. We got lots of shoreline ice in the last several days
and the wind is out of the east, so the lake isn't making any
noise at all.

Have a great day everyone.

Thats funny Donna! There was some distance involved. This fire was at my husbands deer blind which is quite some distance from where we live. The table and chairs were from the blind. It is a good observation and create a good laugh. We always make it a point to have several bonfires in the winter, some times close to home and other times there is distance involved.

Thanks 4 sharing the pics. Makes a Winter day more cosy. Now all we need is a cup of hot chocolate while sitting next to the fire.

It's a bright sunny 1 degree day here in Lansing. Those blue skies are nice, but it means cold, cold temps (and sinus headaches too). Have a great day all you pasty cammers out there in pastyland. I think we're over the hump, spring isn't far off. :-)

Ahhh, the North Beach diet in action!

Sounds like fun, Brenda. I wish I liked to walk around in the winter, but I prefer the warmth of my house, lol!

When I saw the fire and snowshoes today it brought back memories when my father, uncle joe and i used to snowshoe back into the cedar swamps with the dogs to hunt snowshoe rabbits in back of Hebbards Farm off the Gay Road in the early 40's. We build a fire and hunted all day with temp's around 10 below to 10 above. It was around this time of the year

I could have done that today in my backyard here in N.Ga. Looks like fun.

Oh yeah, my favorite...Vollwerths hot dogs cooked on the fire!

The backyard & front yard here in TN. look's like the Pictures above. There is a small brush pile ready to be burned, we have the chairs, kid's soft drink's hot & cold, along with hard stuff for us old timer's. eh jus no got dem snow shoes & choppers. Would of had them back in the day back in Dollar Bay, eh Fran In GA. Won't be long palm trees will be growing in Copper harbor. I gained some good knowledge info last night, that I could not argue with. I love when that happens, so I now do believe in Global Warming, but on a very much bigger scale!
