WOW... that was my initial reaction when today's top photo arrived by E-mail. It looks like these deer are heading straight at us and running full speed ahead. The gentleman that sent me the photo, at first said the deer just about ran the photographer over as they passed by quite closely. Then he retracted that statement and admitted that the shot was taken with a "wildlife camera" set up in the woods. In case you haven't noticed, I'm purposely being evasive about the who and where, as they would like both to remain a mystery, for obvious reasons. I will tell you that it's somewhere in the Bootjack area and that perhaps these deer were headed over to Dotsie Stewart's, to add a few more tracks to her backyard. Sure looks like this is a popular spot for the deer to hang out. Dotsie commented that the yard looks like someone held a football game out there, only instead of footprints, there are innumerable hoof prints. Is anybody else humming, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, right about now? :->

The first picture is "ethereal", without a doubt. Just beautiful. Thanks for both photos!

Hi I saw a herd of deer last Saturday while I was out cross country skiing, only much farther away. Another pair of skiiers startled them and they crossed my path about 30 feet away, and partially hidden by trees. This was near Jackson, MI.

When dad was alive it was a common sight to see 25-30 head of deer eating hay with our cattle. And a sight to see it was!

That first picture could make a great postcard!! Amazing pictures those trail cameras take, I'm talking subject matter--can't get those photos with a human around.

That first picture reminds me of a day I was running in the woods when I was in the Army. We were doing a 5 mile run through the woods and creeks on a cold/frosted morning and right in front of me three deer ran out in front of me. I about peed myself, they scared me so bad but guess I scared them too. lol
The second picture reminds me how my back yard looked after a family of deer decided to eat the apples our tree dropped.
Alex, that clip is to funny. Every home needs one.

Nice shot. The DNR is in middle of its annual wolf survey. They are requesting reports of any wolf sightings or recent tracks in Houghton or Keweenaw counties. You can call report in to Brad Johnson at the Baraga DNR at 906-353-6651.
