Last week we featured some folks celebrating the New Year with a winter walk. This week we're looking at one more way to celebrate, from Virginia Hoffman and her family. Taking the kids sledding is always fun, but how much more memorable Virginia and Bryan made it, by taking Yasmine and Xander in the dark of night. They're slip, sliding away on the hills in front of the old Hancock High School on Quincy Street and it looks like they're having a blast. After the thrill of the hills, they headed back home to ring in the New Year with some sparkling fun! I'm betting it’s a celebration those youngsters won't soon forget!

That's more fun than watching the ball drop.

Sledding at night is even more fun! It sure seems you are going faster than in the day time, plus you can't see where you're headed sometimes ;o)

We have a few of these hills near here in southern Wayne county, built years ago with dirt dug up during the freeway construction. We go a few times a year and the hill near us gets plenty of action with a great varity of "snow boards", sleds, toboggans, tubes etc. So far we have already had about 8.5" of snow this year. (I remember shoveling snow off the roof as a kid growing up in Hubbell and just walking down the banks when we were done.)

Hey everybody,
A while back Mickill Mouse asked us to vote for the Bowers School Barn in the Campbell's contest to restore the old barns.
Bowers School won!
As well as the Fudala Barn in Bark River and 3 others. Very nice to see these 5 barns restored for our future generations.

There was a pic of the Fudala barn in Bark River in yesterday's Daily Press in Escanaba. It's 100 years old. Very nice barn.
