Not exactly the best time of year to visit Sugar Island, but that's where we're headed today, courtesy of Brenda Leigh (the first two photos) and Lynn Virtanen (the last two photos). Brenda snapped a snowy shot of the Sugar Island map, with the list of businesses and their locations on the island and she added that at the time of the 2000 census, the population there was 683. Her next photo is one taken of the Sugar Islander II Ferry, as it was docking on the Island side. Check out the Frito Lay truck on board. It must have been making a run out there to replenish their chip supply!
The third photo, taken by Lynn, is aboard the ferry, looking back at the mainland and Sault Ste. Marie. The only photo I could find that was actually taken on the Island was of Finn Hall, which was originally built in 1926, according to the sign there and is a restoration project for the Sugar Island Historical Preservation Society. Please chime in if you have any additional information on the project or what the Finn Hall was originally used for. Looks like an interesting U.P. place to visit, so I have another "must see" spot to add to my bucket list. :->

Interesting looking place...I wonder how the roads are if I decided to take the Goldwing over on the fairy.

Agreed about the 'must see' list!
Have added several islands to the list and Sugar is certainly one of them!

Don't forget to have a burger from Clyde's while you wait for the ferry! (except in winter - Clyde's is closed.)
