Jeremy TePaske and his family, recently made a late fall visit to the Porcupine Mountains in Ontonagon County, with a stop at Lake of the Clouds. In the top photo, that's Samuel and Atticus checking out the scenery through the coin-operated binoculars. Good thing they're dressed warmly with hoods and gloves to ward off the chill, since I imagine at that higher altitude, the winds make it quite cool.

The next two photos were taken by Jeremy's wife, Carla and they give us a glimpse of what the boys were seeing through those binoculars. I especially like the second shot, with the rocky ledge bordering the lake like that, making it a different perspective of that often photographed spot. Jeremy pointed out the clouds in the distance of the third shot, saying they reminded him of the Rocky Mountains in the background. With those clouds at about the same level as the terrain there, it illustrates how Lake of the Clouds got it's name.

Thanks for all the work you folks do. I enjoy seeing pictures of the U.P. each day.

Pretty cool pics. The third one is my favorite.

Thank you so much Jeremy for the photos of my favorite place the Porkies! You have created life long memories for your children. I have photos of my friend and me in the Porkies as my screensaver. I try to get to visit them when I get home to the UP. It is more special when you visit them with someone special.

Awesome pictures, thanks, Jeremy. Cannot think of starting the day without checking in on Pasty Net!

What a wonderful place. I make a stop each
fall. They have made some improvements to the
viewing pods also.

My boyfriend and I rented a cabin in the Porkies and spent our Thanksgiving with Mother Nature. Who could ask for more?

Lovely pics, one of my favorite places. Wow, Kelly, that sounds like a great way to spend Thanksgiving. No wonder your ID is "Happy Yooper"! I'd be happy, too, enjoying that beauty so easily. (I live in north FL. Not so pretty here, but it has its moments. :))

Beautiful photos.

Thank you Mary for posting our pictures. We had a great time that day. It was Samuel and Atticus first time at the Porkies, and they loved it! There were a few other people up there that day and several hunters in the woods also, being the Michigan opener of deer season. It was about 10° cooler at the top of the mountain than on the lake!
