I sure had to chuckle when I spotted the top photo in Paul Trautman's album. He titled it, "Yooper deer blind," which I'm not certain it really is, but figured it would give other folks a grin or two today. Speculation is that it's an old fire tower and perhaps someone converted it to their hunting platform, adding the enclosed portion next to the tower so that an elevator could be used to get to the top. :-> Mind you, I said this is all just speculation...

Paul's second shot goes right along with the deer hunting theme, as I know from firsthand experience with our own apple trees, that those deer flock to a tree like this when it's laden down with apples.

If you're headed out tomorrow morning to try to bag a buck, good luck, be safe and know your target before you shoot.

It could be a deer blind, but I think that if I made that climb to the top, I would be napping all day.
The enclosure looks to small for a person, but it could be used for hoisting up gear and supplies.

Kinda looks like an outhouse with a view.

I wouldn't hang around under that outhouse.

Looks like something to do with a communication tower as many bundles of wires run from top to bottom.

That is the Otter Lake Lookout tower. Located north of Baraga at the intersection of Arnheim, Askel & Tower Roads. Head down Tower road to visit the Hanka Farm - a worthwhile stop!

Wouldn't want to step out of that door. Long first step!!!

oh, and I believe the lines that appear to be wires are really the protective cage around the original ladder to the top.

I hunted out of that blind one time. A deer walked up to the blind and was eye to eye level with me. I climbed down and never went there again.
