Good Morning. Parents of kids in a lot of (39) school districts that she chose to discriminate AGAINST, are livid this morning, as they are finding out what our "fabulous" Governor of the State of Michigan did last night. She severely penalized this school district and 38 others, by slapping a huge penalty on them, over and above the $165 per pupil funding cuts for all school districts. Our school district lost last night an unanticipated additional $2.3 million plus in funding, the seventh highest loss. Tops in funding penalties were Livonia, Dearborn, & Walled Lake. Madame Governor literally "Robbed Peter to Pay Paul" with her veto pen. This is a huge cut in funding, that none of the school districts even had an inkling could be even thought of doing, much less actually happening by the stroke of Her pen!!! This, my friends will mean the cuts of many teachers, in addition to a lot of other things. Thank you, Madam Governor, NOT! Pretty soon, we won't even have these public school districts, we will just be taxed to pay for the other school districts. Way to go, Madame!

Good morning everybody!

Again, WOW! There are so many great pictures that it's hard to pick a favorite. The beauty is just amazing! I thought the foggy canal couldn't be topped and then I came to the moon over Lake Superior. And the others are all great, too!

Have a great day!

I see what you mean, Deb. Still, it's the 1999 one that "speaks to
me" the most today.

I know, and there are a few others, too! They're just gorgeous!

Good Morning! Indian Summer is here in the greater Palo, Ia. area. Going to enjoy every bit of it, it's going to be a short term one.

As a state employee who has already had to deal with unpaid days off (in the fiscal year that just ended in Sept and in past years as well) and probably more to come (in the new 09/10 fiscal year), I can feel your pain. I still think a better answer would be to raise the sales tax so EVERYONE pays some, including visitors to our state. That way they would not be taking all the money from a few, but a little from a lot. My two cents....(and that's all I have left).

I respect people's rights to their opinions, but wouldn't some of these posts be better suited for the Politics and Religion page? Try https://www.pasty.com/discus/messages/411/3808.html

Looks like one Ft. Collins, Co. resident has recovered from the "balloon boy" saga. Everything back to normal Gary??

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 12:24 pm:

I forgot to wish my good friend, Margaret, a happy birthday this morning! Glad I came home for lunch today, which I don't usually do.

Have a great day, Margaret!

re: FJL(Langoman):Not yet. It looks like the circus will remain in town for a while. I'd gladly send it packing. Any takers?

Speaking of the 'balloon boy'. Such a shame what some folks will do for publicity, even to the point of using their child. My 2 cents worth here is....his parents 'saddled that bronc, now let's see if they can ride it!'

Cindy,
the sales tax is regressive. It bears down on the low income people more than upper incomes. Simply because upper income people don't spend all their disposable income.
People in the State of Michigan brought the problem on themselves-------now they should fix it up and not expect out of state to help. All states should do that. Solve their own problems.
