This is something that I'd like to do one of these years during the fall season, but unfortunately I've missed my opportunity this year, again. Daryl Laitila has made the trip to the top of Mount Bohemia, via the chair lift to take in the fall colors around Lac La Belle and from the looks of these two photos, it is well worth the trip. Once you make it to the top of the run, I would think you'd have some time up there to wander around and snap some photos, plus get your fill of beautiful scenery from a higher altitude. Would someone please remind me next year, to make plans to get this crossed off my "bucket list?" :->

See the rest of my photos here. Daryl

That looks like a long walk up. WHEW!!!

By Smfwlk (Trollperson) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:11 am:

Mary - put it on your calendar now to remind you to do this. Did this a few years ago & it was fantastic.

By Michele Maatta (Mrmaatta) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:16 am:

Wow what a magnificent sight for my sore eyes :) Beautiful!

By Serena Sturm (Serena) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:21 am:

Amazing photos today!

By Helen Marie Chamberlain (Helen) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:24 am:

We were fortunate enough to take the Mount Bohemia fall ski lift ride and it's beautiful!
Recommend it highly to put on your list of "to do" things.

Forgot to mention, one can take a picnic lunch as they have tables at the top so you can sit and enjoy the view while you eat!

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:51 am:

MOST DEFINITELY!! This is a wonderful experience. What a fabulous view. It was a beautiful fall day when I had the opportunity to do this with friends. It was breath taking.

By Brooke (Lovethekeweenaw) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:23 am:

We didn't do it this year and I was bummed. It is so beautiful up there.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:34 am:

Now the big question for us less capable folks...how do we get back down?

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:39 am:

As my mother used to say... Roadside table.. garfable... I have no idea what it means It just makes me smile.

By Steve Haagen (Radsrh) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:42 am:

Kay you can get off at the top and take your time to look around, and when you are ready you get back on the lift for the return trip back down.

Does anyone have the schedule for next year? I would love to do this.

By David C Cloutier (Dccloutier) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 10:26 am:

MsKatie:
I was watching Discovery (or something like that) and these people were rolling down a huge hill inside a large tractor tire inner tube. It looked a bit risky to me, but perhaps you are more adventurous than I...

By Uncle Chuck at Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 10:26 am:

No Marty- we're not going to try and drive the Xeterra up the face of Bohemia this year either! LOL

By Gary W. Long (Gary_in_co) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 10:43 am:

Theresa: What a coincidence!! My father used to have a similar saying, too. He would say...Gary..shut up and finish your supper... A little less poetic, perhaps.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 04:05 pm:

My mom would say " Shut your mouth and eat your dinner." I would then question her on how to accomplish that feat. She also would say " hurry up, the pickle boat doesn't wait for anyone." Never saw any pickle boats in Hubbell just the coal ones.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 04:23 pm:

Beautiful Autumn, as usual.

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 04:47 pm:

It is a fabulous view no doubt.Coming from the U.P born and raised and seeing all it has to offer was my primer view, little did I know then,as it was all I knew, and thought it couldn't get any better. However,it has helped me rise above to where I call home today. The Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. So near by I could climb them every day if I wish to,with a short drive to the state line of TN./ N.C.and be over 5,000 ft.high, or take the loop around Cades Cove, and circle on over to Pigeon Forge,or Gatlinburg where we own a part of the Westgate Resort there up on the top, and still building higher. Now some will say it is a shame to take this habitat of wild nature, cutting down trees to build cabins so the rich an famous can spend a week or more on the mountain.I hope nobody starts any of that. You can dive yourself to the top of this Resort, park the vehicle after the scenic ride, and then use the Bus or Train to get to the many places on site you want to go. At times it is a wait for the Bus. So I suggested a Zip line to be put in place so one can at least get down the hill faster. They brought in the expert from the Resort in the Rocky's, and yes it will be in place soon! So maybe a Zip line could be in good use on top of Mount Bohemia so Kay can zip on down if she wants to along with others. It is very nice here too, but oh how I miss the Big Lake!

By Walter P McNew (Waltermcnew) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 07:51 pm:

just out of couriosity what kind of name is mick ill. it cant be keltic?

By Bonnie Hartman (Bonniehartman) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:32 pm:

I wish I could be in the Keweenaw to do that! I always went up the fire tower back in the day. This summer when I was home in July I was going to go on the lift the weekend they were offering it... but, there was too much wind the Sunday I was going to do it. The pictures are beautiful. 90 degrees here in Florida today.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 08:38 pm:

David C....I DON'T THINK SO!!! Even when I was younger and a little lithe(sp?) I was at least smart enough not to try a stunt like that. What are you thinking, boy??? I think David H's suggestion sounds a wee bit more normal? But thanks for the idea anyway!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:09 pm:

TO WALTER;

mickill is just a name I came up with to use out here. It is mick-ill. A combination of two names. That is all it is.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - 09:11 pm:

It is not keltic.

By John P. DuLong (Dulongj) on Thursday, October 29, 2009 - 10:43 am:

Ma also use to say "Eat your meal, there are starving children in Africa." To which I would reply "Well package this meal up and send it to them because I am not eating it." Now I often dwell on the meals Ma use to make and I miss them. I especially miss the beef stew she made with crust on it in the big yellow bowl. You know the meal I am talking about Mike.
