E. Neil Harri was up in the air again and snapping a couple shots to give us a "bird's eye" view of what the colors have been doing. The first photo is my home town, Lake Linden and beyond, looking to the north. Then he flew over Michigan Tech's campus in Houghton and captured a glimpse of the color around there. Both of these pictures were taken last week, which explains why there's no white showing in either of them.
For a look at the white we've experienced over the past week, we turn to Brita Haapala and what I'm assuming is Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. The snow around the area has quickly melted with the slightly warmer temps and sunshine, but I couldn't help but share a few of the snowy shots that have been coming in this week. That white background makes those colors seem all the more vibrant.

Good Morning: The trees look pretty, but I"m not so sure about that white stuff.

Great choice in photos Mary! (I have family buried in that cemetery.) I wish I was back home this time of year; I cannot be there physically, because of work. It is through the eyes of the wonderful people who live there who are willing to be my eyes; I am able to be home every day. Thank you.

Very pretty! It was nice to be UP there myself to experience the beauty. We got some really awesome pictures while we were there.

Beautiful pics today! I'm getting excited for winter to get here. BBRRAAPP :)
It's been snowing/flurrying at Keweenaw latitudes over in Minnesota since Saturday. More on the ground this morning, and mix snow/rain continuing to fall. I know it's common for a 6-8" dump in the first couple weeks of October, but doesn't it usually melt right away? Maybe next week we'll see the ground again before it disappears for the winter.

Neil, what awesome photos! Just beautiful! Thank you so much! Will be zapping these out on my e-mails to family and friends all over the country who, because of you and other Pasty photographers, are now becoming familiar with the beauty of the U.P...a place most didn't even know existed and who now look forward to receiving the daily pics! :)

My Grand Dad and my Dad both worked for many years as groundskeepers in that cemetary and both are now resting there as well. It holds a very special place in my heart.
Neil, do you have a photo of centenial heights I could possibly buy? I never in all my browsing the web find a picture of heights. even the tech archives don't have one.

Beautiful photos all! Neil, your photos of the colors UP there always remind me of a beautiful patchwork quilt. Brita, your photos of the snowy cemetery look like a pastel painting, especially with the pink tree in the center of the first one. Thanks to both of you for sharing God's touch of beauty in your surroundings!

JoAnne, I have worked as the sexton in our local cemetery since 1979. There is no more rewarding feeling than to take care of your family, neighbors and friends. I am meeting the cement truck at 4:00 today to pour the last 4 monument foundations for this year and then turn off the water for the winter and blow out the lines.

Looks like Autumn-Wintry mixes are almost common on the Keweenaw. Thanks 4 sharing the photos.
