It looks like fall is definitely in the air and Dorothy Stewart snapped a shot of several of the visitors out in Bootjack, that always seem to show up with the arrival of Autumn each year. Many folks decorate their homes for the various holidays, but it seems that lately there are more and more people doing so. I'm not sure why, but fall is always one of the more decorated, with scarecrows, pumpkins and corn stalks to help liven things up. Then closer to Halloween we'll see more ghosts and goblins hanging around. I wonder if a few of the latter might join this scarecrow family outside Dotsie's home? :->

Good Friday morning; TGIF!!!!!!
People in SE Texas decorate their yards for Halloween as well, but it's just not the same as in the north. I wonder if it has to do with the chill in the air that usually puts everyone in the mood (here yesterday, it was 93 with high humidity; YUK!). What I can't believe is that our local Lowe's has already had Christmas supplies out for 2-3 weeks. We won't even begin to think about Christmas until at least next month!!
Hopefully the weather holds out so we can go for a nice little cruise in the "beep-beep". It's supposed to be cooler tomorrow, finally....

I would gladly take some of that '90 degree weather this weekend. It is shaping up to be another cold, wet one in SE MI.

This past weeks weather has definitely turned more trees. Think we will do a little decorating this weekend too.

I'll go along with that Alex. A little longer motorcycle riding weather is good for the soul!

I gave in last evening when the temp hit 23 degrees F. Whipped that furnace on in a big hurry. Hope to get through the univerity Homecoming parade in the morning w/out the predicted rain/snow showers. Youth ski team will be on roller blades if pavement is dry. Me, I'll be in the back of the buckboard refilling candy bags.

Where we live, we are not allowed to decorate out front. To heck with that, I am going to buy at least a big pot of yellow mums and a pumkin and put them on the bench outside the door.;O)

MM, What kind of uptight area is that! We will have some pumpkins outside but thats about it. A few things inside too.

Indeed, Fall is in the air. Here in California, (central)it has been just right, weather wise. Was about 76 yesterday, supposed to be about 80 today.(was in the 100's just a week ago!) To add to that delight, the cross town high school football game is tonight. (Tracy vs. West) Nice cool delta breeze, the smell of tri-tip on the BBQ, the sound of the ref's whistles, enthusiastic crowd, players (on both sides) doing their best for 'bragging rights' for one more year. Life is good....October is my favorite month. Have a great day all.....

Mckill, sounds like you live in a condo. I do, but at least I can put flowers and pumpkins out on the porch, but not much more. A big no-no are wind chimes, decorative flags, bird houses, bird feeders, lawn ornaments and on and on and on. Sigh!!!!

Wow Dan...sounds great! What solar system is California located in? :)

Alex, California is in the leftcoastimus belt, this time of year California slingshots from the outer reaches of the bakimus sunimus, to the bearabilius. (bearable temps) Gonna be a great game too! This is a football town. Being a native Yooper, I wait for this weather all year. Fall is ideal here. By the way, nice Autumn display photo today.

Carole; Sounds like where I live, too. I can put what I want on my back patio, just not out front. I, personally, would not put out wind chimes because they are noisy.
TO BROOKE: My mom lived in Lake Linden. When we first moved here our first Halloween I had it decorated real cute for Halloween, but the next day they told us to take everything down. ;O( We live about 35 miles North of Detroit.

Wow Dan from me too. Sounds almost as good as the midwest autumn. Sure miss the crazy football season. Only one teenage g'daughter now and she is in central Wisconsin, too far for me to get to right now. Spent many a freezing and/or rainy Friday night on the ropes watching all my sons playing.(sigh) Got an 11 year old Luke coming up. Hope I'm not too decrepid when the time comes! Enjoy those Friday nights for me too.

My wife has some scarecrows like the ones pictured, and pumpkins placed on the rail of our front deck. She also decorates these things with ears of Indian Corn and different shaped squash.
