Why do I have the feeling the high winds yesterday knocked something out in PastyCam land?? Hence, the reason for a later-than-usual posting this morning....

We have a winner...

You could be right, Capt Paul. I think high winds were more the rule than the exception, all over Michigan, yesterday & last night. The winds here in the greater Midland area were wicked, with gusts to about 40 mph. Consumers Power worked all evening trying to restore power here in mid-Michigan. NOAA was predicting wind gusts to 50 mph in Houghton & 60 mph in Copper Harbor. Ouch! That's getting a little too close to hurricane force winds, for me. Wicked winds & huge waves in the Great Lakes yesterday & last night.

Maybe we can post our own picture of the UP and call it new post.. and the Capt. gets the early bird :)

Winds have 2 b a minimum of 75 mph b 4 it becomes a hurricane, so 60 mph is just considered stormy.

Well, maybe I'll post a pic then....

Ok then; until Charlie "officially" posts a pic here, I'll post one of mine from our trip in August, 2009 just to appease the masses. This is at Presque Isle in Marquette, looking west from the northern most pointe.

Technically, winds of 60 mph are still of Tropical Storm strength, which is much higher than a Tropical Depression, which is 44 or less mph. 60 mph winds are well above gale strength. I saw somewhere, they were predicting waves of at least 15 to 20 feet on Mother Superior, for yesterday, but I have not heard what they got up to.

not sure i understand. i'm just guessing:
if you have a disaster due to high winds as
yesterday or today -- system is down -- how
can anything be posted until the system is up?

Love the photo of the well, but.....am I seeing a bear or a doggie to the left and in back of that well? Sure looks like it with these old eyes. BTW, I've always known that Michigan has some unusual stones/pebbles along its beaches (ie: Petosky stone), but I didn't know there were stone/pebbles with 'faces' on 'em. :)
