The other day, when I was taking my walk around the streets Lake Linden, I did a double-take as I passed by the Houghton County Historical Museum... thinking to myself, "Is that really an out-house for sale there?" Sure enough it was, so I had to head back home to grab my camera and preserve this "only in the U.P." moment. You can always find interesting items both on the museum grounds and inside, too, but I bet this is a first for the HCH Museum...although, I guess you could classify this as something historical, since we do have indoor plumbing now. :->

Wow, a split-log outhouse! Pretty fancy! Even a proper toilet seat. My Mummu's outhouse was a two-holer, with a child-sized hexagonal hole and an adult-sized square hole cut side-by-side in the plywood. As a little kid, I was always a little afraid of that big square hole. I never imagined I'd be big enough to be able to use it, and I never did. The outhouse has since been long-gone.

Y'know what they say? No job is finished, 'til the paper work is done. Sorry. :o)
