It was the last picture in a week-long tribute to Dan Urbanski and his photos for all seasons of the U.P.

I fell asleep at 5:30 pm thinking I was going to take a little nap and ended up waking up 11:30pm. I just could not and can not get back to sleep. Oh Well!!!!

That picture is incredible, especially the color. I love winter pictures. I also love Dans' pictures.

I feel so lonely out here all by myself. LOL. I bet Charlie has even gone to sleep. I can not believe I am sitting here laughing as I am typing this. I think it is almost time for me to go back to sleep.

Good luck on the stimulus money. Even though I do not live there, it is greatly appreciated, Charlie.

These photos from Mr. Urbanski are amazing, wonderful, phenomenal....God needed a new photographer in Heaven. Apparently, he took the best of the best! RIP Dan!

2005 That parade was on August 22, 1943 and I remember it well. It was my 12th birthday. The parade was part of a bond drive that included a mock tank battle on the west end of Hancock, near the beach. Am pretty sure Carol Lumbard, a big movie star of the time, and Clark Gable's girls friend, was one of the headliners. Big doings for a small town. The main reason I remember it so well was, during the show, we learned my brother, a paratrooper, had been wounded in North Africa and had just arrived at a hospital on Staten Island. My folks managed to visit him there, which was good for them, but he didn't make it. As my mother said,"At least we got to bury him back home and not in an unmarked grave in a strange land like so many other parents,"
