Over the past 12 years the Pasty Cam has shown a balance of people and natural beauty. August 13th's have been weighted toward the former. In how many years can you clearly see people?

Not counting the ant-sized people in the '99 photo,
all the rest have people except one. So I'll say 8
out of 10.

That's my final answer.

Looks like Bob counted those ant-people. But we'll give you both the official EB for being up so early.

Good morning! I'm with you, RD. There are 8.

Have a great day!!!!

The Thimbleberry Cache is especially nice.

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 11:00 am:

I am already missing Michigan, all the nice people, the great weather, and the tasty pasties. I wish we could have stayed longer, but I need to be back at work on Monday. Unfortunately, my attempt to get a job teaching at Michigan Tech didn't work out.

Mikie: I had a great time chatting with you when I was in Detroit. Hopefully we can do that again sometime! There's so many interesting subjects we can talk about together. All my best to you and your family.

My grandson Logan just went into surgery for his neck-head fusion. He has only ligaments & muscles connecting his neck to his head so the doctors have to take a bone from his hip to make the fusion. He is missing his C1 vertabrae (at the base of skull)so will be making one out of his hip bone then graft it to his other vertabraes. It may be a 6-12 hour surgery. We're so proud of our little guy. He went into surgery with no questions & was ready to go. He just kept telling his Mom "I love you Momma" til he closed his eyes & went to sleep. Doctor told us he would have been a quadrapalegic in a short number of years without this surgery. Please keep him in your prayers. We have many people praying but we need all that we can get for our little guy to come through this fine.

By JH (Thumbgardener) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 12:25 pm:

Cheryl, I am praying for Logan and all of your family. What a brave little guy he is.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:11 pm:

All my prayers are going out to Logan and your family. What a tough time to get through. But with lots of love and prayers, this can be a good time.

By Uncle Chuck @ Little Betsy (Unclechuck) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:11 pm:

Cheryl, I too am praying for Logan, we wish him a speedy & healthy recovery from surgery! Like JH stated, "A BRAVE LITTLE GUY"! Keep your head up gramma!

Cheryl, Prayers from Iowa for Logan and to your entire family to come through this. What a load of worries to have on your shoulders. Sounds like he has some Yooper Sisu to him! Thank goodness this was found early in time for proper treatment. God Bless and my Sincere Hopes, and Wishes for Logan.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:22 pm:

FRNash....Wonderful to hear they kicked you out of the hospital and sent you back to your "Home Sweet Home"!! Easy does it now!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:25 pm:

Cheryl, my thoughts and prayers are with Logan and his surgeons, as well as with you and your whole family! I hope he comes through the surgery like the real trooper that he has been all along! Take care! :-)

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:27 pm:

Cheryl, all my best wishes for a successful outcome for Logan and the whole family!

What he's facing almost makes my recent "death by heart attack, 6 hour resurrection and one week stay in the hospital for recovery" sound like a walk in the park!

How old is the brave little guy?

By sarah stuck in ohio (Sarahp) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:33 pm:

God Bless Logan and his family! You're all in my prayers!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:41 pm:

FR Nash, I am very happy for you and your family that you are recovering from your brush with death! Given your medical issues, your decision to sell your Chassell home, while it is lovely, makes a lot of sense now, since it is so far from good critical care. And, Phoenix is well known for its top notch heart care, if I remember correctly. That all being said, it sounds like what truly saved your life was the fact that you were already in the ER when your heart stopped. Even if you lived 15 minutes from the hospital, they could not have gotten you the help you needed in time. (A number of years ago, my uncle had a very severe heart attack. His brain went without oxygen for too long, before the ambulance could get him to the hospital. For many years, I thought he had sudden onset Alzheimers'; it wasn't until later I found out what had really happened. I felt so sorry for my aunt, as he would get up in the middle of the night, take the car keys, and drive the car who knows where (not even he knew where he had set out to go), or he would start playing his saxophone at 3 am, when the rest of the household was sound asleep, and he said the absolutely craziest things, that made no sense. He could never be left alone again. If she needed to go to the store, she had to find someone to stay with him. It was a terrifying time for all. Honestly, in that case, while we all missed him, it was a blessing to my aunt and the whole family when he passed, because before he did, she could get no real sleep, and everyone was on pins & needles, wondering just what he was going to do to wreak havoc next.)

You were in the perfect place, at the perfect time. Somebody upstairs was watching out for you. I hope you continue to recover well! Take care of yourself! :-)

By Dr. Nat (Drnat) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 06:08 pm:

The Captain and I send our best wishes to both FR Nash, Logan and their families.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 08:31 pm:

Cheryl, may the good Lord circle you, your family and young Logan, in His loving arms. I firmly believe in prayers. And love from your friends. I just got off the phone from talking to Fran G. and she, too, sends her prayers

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 10:14 pm:

Cheryl, We're praying for the little guy also. A little faith goes a long way and we just know he's going to pull through this with flying colors. Please let us know how he's doing.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 11:12 pm:

Thank God for the medical technology and for the skilled doctors to help make Logan whole. We're all pullin' for him.

By Theresa R. Brunk (Trb0013) on Friday, August 14, 2009 - 09:11 am:

My prayers to you and all your loved ones Cheryl. Especially Logan. And may his road to recovery be short.

Ditto FRNash
