Good morning!

In the 2006 picture is an insect that had us terrified as kids. My folks called them sewing needles and we thought they'd sew our mouths shut or something. They were all over when we'd go swimming at the South End of Rice Lake. I hated those things. Now I think they're so pretty and parents shouldn't try to scare their kids. What's up with that, lol? Just like they'd tell us to be careful of the dropoff in Rice Lake. So we'd be terrified ot go past our ankles. Where the heck's the dropoff in Rice Lake? You can walk for what seems like miles at the South End, lol.

The 2002 Butterfly is gorgeous!!!!

FRNash...good to hear you're doing better!

By Laurie B. (Ratherberiding) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 08:10 am:

I remember that story about the "sewing needles". I think we got it from the big kids though, not our parents. If anyone sees or knows Florence Bashaw today, be sure to wish her a happy 87th birthday.

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 08:14 am:

I especially like the Monarch Butterfly and Whitefish Pt. Lighthouse pics (which I have visited).

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 08:22 am:

What was wrong with FRNash? I must have missed something.

I like the lighthouse picture too. I took it, after all, lol.

"What was wrong with FRNash?"

Thanks for asking!

As I wrote last night on johndee.com:

Quote:

"... FRNash passed away from a heart attack at about 7:30PM on Wed, August 5,2009.

No, I'm not kidding!

Fortunately this event occurred in a wheel chair adjacent to the ER admissions desk at John C. Lincoln Hospital, Phoenix,AZ, after a 2.5 mile ride at land-speed-record speeds from home to the hospital.

After about six hours of furious work, a team of 7-8 physicians and surgeons plus other related medical personnel had completed the resurrection by about 1:30AM on Thursday, August 6. I am writing this on a borrowed computer from the hospital. With any luck they'll finally kick me out of here tomorrow.

Issues like this were what convinced me to [put the the house in Chassell, MI up for sale] instead of actually selling the one in Phoenix and moving back to da UP.

If this event occurred in Chassell, I would very likely not be be writing this now!

As I write this note (7:53AM MST, 8/12/2009) I am still waiting to see if I can go home today!

It's nice to be back ... in more ways than one!

FRNash,

So glad to have you with us!

By Just me (Jaby) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 12:29 pm:

Congratulations to John and Nora Dee!! I followed the "in the spotlight" link and read a most heartwarming story with a most happy ending. God bless y'all!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 01:29 pm:

FRNash!! I am sooooooo very happy that things worked out for you. I agree with you that if this had happened in Chassell, you would not be here. That is sad, but true. By the time they DRIVE, not FLY, you to Marquette, it's likely to be too late. They very nearly killed my dad the first time he had the heart attack. I've begged them to move away from there and come where there are hospitals closer than 120 miles away, but to no avail. My dad's last one was so massive that he died instantly. Nobody could have saved him. But there's still my mom. I pray she doesn't have any problems.

Happy Birthday Steve's mom!!!!

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 05:43 pm:

Holy Mackeral FRNash! Glad you were near help. I guess they don't want you yet...that's good to hear. You must have more work to do here.

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 09:42 pm:

Glad you made it Mr. Nash, what would we do without you. I would have to become educated.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 09:49 pm:

Hey Mikie,

I am going to try and find your grandsons water stand. We were already out and about up and down Woodward looking at cars, taking pictures and blasting the radio, with music from the 50's. I love it. ;O)

By RCW (Rcw) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 10:49 pm:

Hang in ther Fr Nash

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - 11:46 pm:

Two blocks west of Woodward two blocks north of Catalpa [11 1/2 mile road] corner of Mortenson and Franklin under the big oak tree.

By FRNash/PHX, AZ (Frnash) on Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 01:04 pm:

Thanks for all the support!

They finally kicked me outa da horsepistol last night, and I'm doing quite well.

Perverse note: After several days of nagging at me to walk around the hospital, I couldn't leave that way. Oh no, I had to ride a wheelchair to the curb. Eh? I smell attorneys!

By Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Monday, August 17, 2009 - 03:17 am:

Belated "glad you're back" wishes from me, too, FRNash....I was on vacation with no wireless at the Marina, didn't read about your "incident" until now...WELCOME BACK!
