The Pasty Cam is under attack! Oh, wait...that's just Frederic W. Koski and his expertise with a camera. He never ceases to amaze me with the action shots of birds in flight that he manages to capture. This trio of photos show a Harrier Hawk going after a young Eagle in flight. That bottom photo is the one that has me a bit perplexed. It looks as if the Eagle is flying upside down, so I'm wondering if the Harrier got the best of him or if he just did a spin to out-maneuver the Harrier? Hopefully, Frederic will login today and let us know what the outcome of this aerial assault happened to be. :->

great photos! Nice to get a close-up look of a young eagle. Without the white tail and head it's hard to say just what it is. Of course their size is a good give away.

Great shots Fred. I don't know how you do it. In the first shot it looks like you were in the air flying above them. Getting high on outdoor photography :-)

Mary, I can't look at Fred's album. I get a white screen that says critical error. Got the same thing yesterday trying to look a Dan's album. The error message says "too many connections".

I saw a video of an eagle grab a crow that was harrassing him much the same as this series of photos.The crow was above and the eagle rolled and grabbed him.

The Eagle got away. This is the same Harrier I saw being chased by a smaller Red-Winged Blackbird a few months ago. The smaller birds are always chasing away the bigger ones. I also got the Harrier chasing after an adult Bald Eagle but a little farther away from me. I found a great location for watching all this at a cranberry bog, secret spot:)
The military naming it's Harrier after this bird makes sense.

I do not remember what state this happened in but, an eagle caught a fish and was flying along with it and all of a sudden lost its' grip and dropped the fish. It hit a womans windshield and smashed it (windsheild) to pieces. The lady had the fish and you could see the claw marks on it. I saw that story yesteday. I wonder if the insurance covered it? LOL

A few weeks ago saw an eagle along the shore of Grand Island take down a sea gull, dispatch it, and bring it for Sunday bruch to the eaglets in her (maybe his) nest.

This is a common manuever by Eagles. It rolls over to show & present its talons to the harasser.
Obviously Freds fine photos were taken from a high vantage point such as up on Brockway where one can look DOWN on migrating birds of all types passing thru both spring & fall.

The Harrier Jump Jet was in fact named for the Hawk as are many aircraft past & present of many countrys both military and civil! There is quite the list of them!
