How's the weather in the UP? Uncle Chuck@ Little Betsy, his wife and I are on our way up tomorrow. And the dumbest question, are the black flies bad? Looking forward to being in the UP for 3 whole weeks. Yeah!!

Norma I was up 7 days ago and the black flies where not bad at all. More then I thought should be around in July but by no means bad, however the deer flies and horse flies can be very bad during the day. I will be back up tomorrow so we will see how things are then.

Hey Norma; are you, Uncle Chuck, and the crew going to be at Betsy between the 30th and August 8?? If so, the Dr. and I are also going to be in the area and if I remember correctly, Uncle Chuck promised Nat a cup of coffee..... ;-)

I'll be back last week of July, just shot U.P. here to bring the boat for the ladies and niece's and nephew's, Capt. how bout a pizza at the Ambassador? I would think thats a favorite spot? over the last several years on pasty.com.

i grew up in the 'up' in the 40's and 50's
and i don't know anything of black flies.
i spent a lot of time in the bush and also
fishing streams. all i can remember is
mosquitos.

when did these black flies arrive?

I remember the black flies when staying at Brevoort Lake in the sixties & seventies. My mom always got bit, but I never did, so a.m. hill maybe they just don't like us & sometimes being unpopular is good!

Liked all todays pics but the 1999 one of the Smith Fisheries startled me. Looks so like a view of Ireland! The building just needs to be white (stucco) with a thatched roof! Good memories!

Uncle Chuck will be up on the 24th. We are on the Gay LacLabelle Road just past the Little Betsy River. The name Paulson is hanging on the mailbox. Capt. I know that is an invite!! Deb come on down too.

My ex-inlaws have a place a little before the Little Betsy. We drive out there a lot when we're UP there. So I know that area well. That would be awesome!!!! We've been smelting out there.

Sounds like a plan Norma/Uncle Chuck, but maybe we should carry on over email.....

Oh, and don't be surprised if you see a black Impala with Texas plates pulling in to Little Betsy one day ;-)
