An anchor is seen in today's decade review, as well as Day in History. In what town is it located?

L'Anse!
First Post

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 07:55 am:

Morning! I still have never been anywhere in L'Anse other than the school when I was in high school to watch the basketball games (we always lost). I really have to put that on my to do list when we're not in such a hurry.

My hubby will love seeing those thimbleberry blossoms. He can't wait to pick. A little over 3 weeks and we'll be there. 3 weeks from tomorrow we leave for St. Iggy and Mackinac Island. Then it's on up to Lake Linden and do the touring thing up there.

The clothing the "fisherwoman" is wearing in today's Pasty Cam just doesn't seem to go along with fishing. Or, is that the standard attire for U.P. fisherwomen? Perhaps U.P. fish and fishermen can hardly wait to be caught by such women! LOL

Seems a bit strange to see the "DO NOT ENTER" sign right next to the church door.

Just wish to thank Joe Kirkish for his daily definitions on Day in History.

Just checked the Michigan Lottery website to see if I won anything in last night's Classic Lotto 47 drawing and read the article about the Newberry Lottery Club (click on "Newberry club claims Classic Lotto 47 jackpot" in the right column) that won the $12.7 million jackpot last week. So glad it was all Newberry residents and not somebody from out of state. They are definitely helping the local car dealerships!

Not to be a downer but I thought you would be interested in my grandson Logan's progress. Logan has one small kidney which they will keep an eye on as he grows. But his heart is not on the left side but on the right. There'll be testing before the neck surgery to see if there are any defects in the heart. His head is resting on his neck by only some muscles & some ligaments. He's being fitted for a neck brace today. Surgery is going to be more extensive than origanally thought. One of his kidneys is smaller than the other & will be watched as he grows up. No surgery date as of yet. Please continue to pray for him. We really need them & appreciate them.

Repeating oneself comes with age I guess. Referring to my 2 comments on Logan's kidneys in the other post. LOL (At least we can laugh at something. LOL

I shed a tear earlier today when I heard the news of no more pasty shipments this summer. :*(

I guess I will have to double my pasty intake when we're up there in a couple weeks......

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 04:47 pm:

Good, especially the thimbleberry blossom + the canyon pics.

By kosk in Toronto (Koskintoronto) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 08:17 pm:

Cheryl,

I will pray for Logan and his family. Those are huge problems for a
little guy to deal with.

By Cindy Pihlaja Russell (Gone2long) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 09:35 pm:

Cheryl...I will keep Logan in my prayers as well. Sometimes it's hard to remember that God has a plan for all of us.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 09:57 pm:

Cheryl, We will be praying and hoping for the best for Logan. Please keep us informed.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 10:18 pm:

So earlier today I'm reading along on here minding my own business as I usually do, looking at the decade in review as usual, reading about Cotton's grandson and his progress and so forth. I post a comment about how I will miss pasty shipments over the summer and then leave. It is now evening and I read the WhatsUP page again, and then I check my email and this is one of the messages:

Subject: How Sad

How sad you couldn't even comment on "Cotton"'s post. You are in deed a bigot! Another reason why I was afraid of moving UP here. No nasty cammers in my neighborhood.

Needless to say, I was floored!! I'm just wondering what provoked you, an obvious PastyCam reader, to email such a hateful message?? Just because someone doesn't pour their heart out to Cheryl in public doesn't mean they aren't keeping her grandson in their prayers. I suggest the next time you send such a scathing email that maybe you should post it to the forums here, that way, it saves me the trouble of posting it here so everyone can see what a hateful, grumpy person you are!!

Oh, and btw, where's your comment to Cheryl's post?? If I am a bigot for not responding, then so too are you!! ;-)

By Michael Du Long (Mikie) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 - 10:37 pm:

Paul, I know better. You are a real gentleman. Proud to know you. Chery, my family is praying for you and will have some masses said for Logan. Tell Kevin the girls and Justin will pray also.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, July 10, 2009 - 07:26 am:

Paul, we all know who and what you are. You are a great man and we are all always interested in anything you have to say. Do not feel badly. I have been the recipient of this person's wrath also. Cheryl knows how you feel.
