The weather here in the U.P. this summer has been hot and cold, up and down, so when the temps heat up you can't take any chances and wait for another day, you have to head to the beach. Doug Grusser snapped a shot of some beach-goers in Marquette, near the Lighthouse. I think this is a first, at least for me, since I don't recall ever having seen a shot of the Lighthouse with people enjoying the beach around it. Sure makes for a scenic backdrop to a wonderful day spent along Superior's shores. Get out there and enjoy the U.P. beaches when the sun is shining.

That water looks so blue!

Marquette Harbor Lighthouse is always a beautiful sight against a sunny sky and the gorgeous blue waters of Lake Superior. I have really enjoyed the lighthouse pics this week in the decade review photos. It's fun to see this lighthouse from a different angle. I wish I was on that beach right now enjoying the scene and the fresh air. Great shot!

beautiful picture today of the Marquette Lighthouse. It is a real treat when lying on the beach and a large freighter comes into port. The beach is actually twice this length with the large boulders at the opposite end that the NMU students and locals keep painting.

Look how the red of the lighthouse is repeated in the beach umbrella and in the shorts of a sunbasker on the right. Beautiful photograph!

I've never seen one like this, that's for sure. I like it!

That lighthouse is so pretty, I did a painting of it on one wall of our enclosed stairway, painted a 'window frame' around it so it's like I can look out the 'window' and see it. Sigh, wish I really could! :)

I was just there last Monday. It was beautiful! I had never seen so many people at this beach. We could hardly find a place to lay our blanket down! The water was cold, but bearable. The sand burnt your feet! It was fabulous!
