Note: The Pasty Cam was delayed today, due to an outage in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

The Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools are undergoing a number of renovations, one of which is featured here today. Chad Johnson snapped this picture earlier in the week of the progress being made on the installation of the new auditorium windows in the High School building. They're removing the old glass block windows and replacing them with large pane windows.

Take a look at the post card that Chad also sent me. We don't know the exact date the post card photo was taken, but we're guessing in the 1930's. Until Chad sent this shot to me, I had always thought the glass block was the original façade, but come to find out, the windows that are being installed now, are taking it back to the look it originally had. What's old, is new again!

We haven't had any outages here in Toronto, but we sure have had
some stormy weather. Maybe the weather will be better by the end
of next week when we head for the UP?

The news here has been saying rain and storms all this past week, we got one good downpour and that was it. I always tell Bill just look outside and see what it is doing. ;O)

Oh Yeah. The pictures of the renovations of the school are incredible. They are very interesting to me. I often wondered what was behind those cinder-block windows. Out of all the years going to Lake Linden I never went inside the school. I use to go to football games, but never inside the school. 'Thank You for sharing'.

It is good to see that those block glass windows are going. The new windows these days are efficient and certainly let in more light.
Glad to see that. Haven't been in that building since I was in high school playing basketball against the then called, Whiz Kids.

I may have missed an announcement, but when are we going to have a working bridge cam again?

By Therese (Therese) on Saturday, July 25, 2009 - 05:45 am:

Well, son of a gun! I wondered why it was always sunny in Houghton! Even at 5am! I didn't look close enough at the date and time at bottom of cam picture.

Rain last night, a good long downpour, and lightning. The NOAA weather site is 'under the weather' and not available this morning. There is an ironic punch line there but I am too sleepy to think of one.

Well, won't it be nice and bright in the auditorium now? I still wish their mascot was still the Whiz Kids.

Hey! That's my husband up there in the lift installing the windows! He's been there for a couple of weeks.

Yeah Brita's hubby!

Ok, I'm late here, but I know they had glass windows through the
thirties and I would guess much later than than that. The reason for
their removal (according to one source) was that kids were looking
out the windows.

I'm so glad it's being restored.
