How many of you remember the first time you enjoyed a Lake Superior sunset? Today's group of photos from Brita Haapala take us through the journey, courtesy of her camera lens and her children's eyes. First you have to get to the beach so we head down these sandy, winding stairs, arriving on the rocky beach. Then in the following photos we witness the wonderment and awe in little Charlie's face as he watches the sun turn bright red as it begins to move downward. The two older children in Brita's last photo, seem to be celebrating the arrival of summer, signaled by the sun quickly dropping below the horizon. Finally, our summer UP North has begun.

Brita, not only do you have beautiful children but you have a beautiful beach. I love those stairs.

Your little one and the kitty has been my screen saver since it appeared. Now his glee at sunset has replaced the kitty scene.

Brita! You are the best kid photographer ever! We're so lucky to see your photos documenting the daily joys your kids encounter as they grow up in such a beautiful place.

My MSNBC business news just posted that Pizza Hut will change their name to "The Hut" because they carry more than just pizza. That's a name infringement on The Hut in the Copper Country!

Idea...The Hut should start making pizza-pasties and call themselves The Pizza Hut:)

I too, am a big fan of Brita's pics. Her kids are just adorable. Brings back such good memories of kids enjoying the great outdoors instead of wasting their precious lives on a play station. Kind of reminds me of the old black and white serials like "Leave It To Beaver", "Father Knows Best", "My Three Sons". The good old days are not over thanks to this wonderful mom. Thank you Brita for showing us that kids are still kids, thanks to good parenting.

I ALWAYS enjoy Brita's photos.They never fail to bring a smile to my face.She seems to capture the free spirit of childhood that we tend to leave behind .....

What really attracts me to Brita's pictures of the children, is that they aren't posed and they almost always are more than just a photo of her kids, like the sunset one...you just get a silhouette of the kids against the setting sun. Thanks for sharing your photos and kids, Brita!

It just warms our hearts to see those Haapala kids just being kids. What a Mama they must have! OK, Daddy, too.

FANTASTIC PIC'S! Takes me back to day's in the Keweenaw with all my Aunts & Uncles, and Cousins, whether we were at Medora, LB, or throwing a football down the main drag in Copper Harbor eating ice cream, thanks Brita! You have a lovely family, I love the last photo, as if the kids are directing the sun down into the big lake! Did they fall a sleep on the way home? LOL
