When you think about catching fish, your mind automatically goes to thoughts of poles, worms and such, but today's Pasty Cam Guest Photographer, Betsy Ely, shares with us a different way of fishing. That's the "Spirit", coming in through the breakwalls at McLain Park after a day of filling their nets. I may have the wrong information here, but I think this is one of two fishing boats operated by the folks at Peterson Fish Market, where you'll always find fresh Lake Superior fish for your dining pleasure.

The subject of the last photo here today, the Upper Portage Entry Lighthouse, is quite often photographed, but seldom have I seen a shot of it from this angle, looking down the breakwall rocks. Nice job, Betsy!

Nice pictures today. Never can go wrong with pictures of lifestyle about Lake Superior!

Looks like a scene from the movie "The Perfect Storm".

This makes me homesick....

My dad had a few choice words for the seagulls many years ago after they dug through the snow where he had cached a lake trout on Keweenaw Bay and made off with the prize.

Wow! I love the unusual view of the breakwall. That's a really interesting shot of the lighthouse.

I like that hook looking thing in the rocks of the breakwall. It looks like it was possibly part of something else at one time. My mom told me the breakwaters is where she almost died when her appendix busted while diving and swimming.

That hook looking thing you see in the concrete was probably put there when they worked on the breakwall. It look like a few links of heavy anchor chain and could be used for tieing up a boat or vessel of some kind. Back in the early 40's my wife and I used to venture out on the break wall. It didn,t have all them large boulders then. the breakwall was rebuilt in later years, and the large boulders were hauled in by barge and placed there to helped stablize the pier. The Corps of Engineers did the job.

Giddi Dessellier and Alfie Holman probably worked on the breakwall. They were from Lake Linden & the local area and worked for the U.S. Corps of engineers.
