If you've spent any time in and around Lake Superior, you're aware of her many moods. We have two of them here today. First, Dan Brown stopped Superior in midair as she hit the North Entry Canal walls, spraying water high and far. Check it out, you can just see the Upper Entrance Lighthouse through the splash.

In case you aren't quite sure where Dan is snapping his photo, we have an aerial from E. Neil Harri that opens things up and brings it all into view. With the Ranger getting ready to glide out of the North Entry breaker walls and a calm Superior showing just a ripple and the wake of the boat, we get a glimpse of her quieter moments. It's probably been said a million times by hundreds of Big Lake lovers, but it bears repeating again.... Superior in any of her many moods is a force all its own, with a beauty that draws you to her shores.

Very cool!

WOW -- Superior must have been riled up that day! Excellent shot, Dan -- although I'd be wary of standing so close to the edge with that kind of power coming at me. :)

The first shot looks like a Las Vegas resort fountain...UP style.

Great shots Dan and Neil!!

I love this quote that I found many years ago about Gitchee Gumee.

“…those who have
never seen Lake Superior get
an inadequate idea by hearing
of it spoken of as a
lake…though its waters are
fresh and crystal,
SUPERIOR is a SEA..It is wild,
masterful and dreaded…”

Sorry, Dan, meant to give you credit for your super first picture, also.

Good pictures.

What a beautiful, delicate shot - water turned into a lace curtain,
fluttering in the breeze! You have an eye, Dan, and you use it with
talent. - Joe Kirkish
