If you're a fisherman or woman, it's time to get your license and get busy fishing. Whether you like getting out there on the dock or starting up your engine to head out to the middle of a lake, pond or river, it's a great way to engage in some stress relieving recreation. Paul Roberts captured a nice moment between a Mother and her son, as they enjoy some fishing off the dock together, somewhere in the Keweenaw (real fishermen/women never reveal their secret fishing holes!). Kind of a perfect shot with Mother's day being tomorrow, since it illustrates what being a Mom is all about... there's nothing more valuable than the time a parent gives to their child like this.
Some folks like to get further away from other people when they wet their hook, like the gentleman in Peg Hardt's photo. What a peaceful scene, you can almost hear the quiet surrounding his boat. I hope he doesn't get too big a fish to take his bait, because he might get pulled overboard. Thank goodness he's wearing a life-vest when he's standing up in the boat like that! :->

Great photos Peg and Paul and a good story that accompanys it. I just love the mother and son fishing together! What a gift for both. I have a wonderful stored memory of myself fishing with my Mom and catching a huge pike. When I landed it on the dike, we did not have a net and it was jumping all over the place. My mother told me to knock it out with a rock. I couldn't do it. She had to take care of it.

I'm hoping to be doing that tomorrow, but the weather doesn't look too promising!

Looks like mom has one hand on her pole and her other arm around her son. Good idea because small ones can move so quickly. We lived beside a lake when our daughter was 2, and one day while we were on the dock, our daughter just stood up and walked off the edge. Thank goodness my husband was in the water at the end of the dock and was able to grab her leg as she went down. No damage to her but needless to say, I went all to pieces!:O

That water looks good enough to go swimming, but I know that once I jumped in, every cell in my outer crust (skin) would be screaming.

Wish I could take my best buddy Rocco and go drowned a couple worms in Lac La Belle or Lake Medora, well it's not too far off. Marty and I plan to be U.P. end of May, it will be different without dad (grandpa Norm).
