Love the '08 photo, it reminds me of the cabin near Shingleton that we used to go to when I was a kid. Some of the best memories of childhood are of that place.

Good Morning my pasty friends. I have a questions for you. My husband and I helped rescue 9 horses and 23 dogs from a home here in Harrison ,mi on Thursday night.These poor animals are in rough shape. We are helping to care for the horses along with our friends. We are
in need of supplies to help in the care of these animals. If anyone knows of a organization that would help us, or maybe some fundraising ideas to help us make the money for the expenses of their care I would really appreciate anyones suggestions.

Speeding in the park.
Last summer while visiting the g.kids at a private park near Davison, mich I was bringing them back to the campsite from a pickup b.ball game and a "park officer" pulled me over in his golf cart and warned me about speeding, I was going 15MPH and the kids still bug me about the old guy caught speeding..I am the same guy that gets passed by school buses on I-75.

Joanne...if there is a 4-H or FFA group(s) or Horse/Saddle Clubs or your couty Humane Society in your area check with them about organizing a drive to help in aid for these unfortunate animals. Last thursday about 1/2 mi. from our house a huge barn fire happened. Found out some lady was running puppy mill and kept three different breeds of dogs, goats, rabbits, chickens and other small animals. Everything was killed, except during friday night a little Yorkie, one of the breeds, was hit in front our house. This has made me so sad to think this might have been a little dog that managed to escape from the fire and almost made it to our home where I would have gladly adopted it and gave it a forever loving home. The timing just wasn't meant to be though.Had the little Yorkie would have got here during the daytime hours.

Normally, I don't post more than once a day, but what I just read never makes me stop thinking what's wrong with people when they treat animals cruelly, especially dogs. This past week, there was a news story on TV about a starving dog left in a recycle bin in Traverse City, and a lady who stopped to drop things off for recycling made the discovery. The dog will be all right according to the local humane society. I also watched in horror as I saw a dog run over and killed at Batchawana Bay, Canada several years ago, and the driver didn't even slow down or stop. What's wrong with people?

Former Hougton hockey playerJeff Finger scored his 5th goal of the season and added an assist for Toronto in last nite's win.

I tell everyone here in Toronto that Jeff Finger is a Yooper. Hooray!

How's NMU doing tonight in Hockey against Miami, anyone know?

Tomorrow is ST. URHO'S DAY! Don't forget to wear green and purple. If you don't know about St. Urho, there are several sites on Google. He saved the grape crop from the grasshoppers, he chased 'em all away! Then Tuesday will be St Patrick's turn. :o)
