During which 3 years were Dan Urbanski pictures seen on this day?

"Good-morning, and day light in the swamp!" Imagine waking up in the early hours of july to the smell of bacon and slimy-peppery eggs yet knowing that once you are full, the lawnmower and field of 2 ft deep grass awaited you... In response to the posting from "unclechuck" yesterday, i had to add my personal story of my grandpa. He was definitely a die-hard pasty.com viewer evidenced by his 2, not 1, shortcuts on his laptop-desktop that I used over the past week. His love for the UP/Keweenaw was definitely passed on in his "legacy" (word used by his florida minister) of grand-kids and will be passed on even further in the near future to his great-grandchildren. Learning to drive on the roads of the keweenaw at an early age is probably my favorite memory of my grandfather, even when he was yelling at me between sips of diet-pepsi (without a straw) to quit riding the brakes around the corners. After he would get done yelling, he would suggest a ride to the Jam Pot for a cookie en route to jim's pizza in calumet for pepperoni pizza. Again he will definitely be missed but his legacy will continue, so if your driving between Gay and Lac La Belle, stop by the Paulson spot at Little Betsy. There more than likely will be someone sitting on the drive way in a lawn chair, "opening a keg of nails" (having a conversation). Thank you once again for the support towards our family and look forward to further discussions in the near future!

Hehe, what a cool story, Ben. I was not born here (alas), but I did grow up in the country and learned to drive on country roads like everyone else -- just flat Saginaw Valley country roads!

I still can't imagine the thrill of learning to drive on Keweenaw roads. I once ran into a father and his (fairly young) son driving on a trail at the Cliffs in their Jeep. We chatted for a while, and the father said that he was teaching his son how to drive -- on a narrow 2-track, crossing the Eagle River, going up into the Cliffs! That always sticks with me as a classic yooper upbringing, and probably a very useful one too. (Although this isn't the same guy [not a Jeep], it looked pretty much like this.)

I have to say something. After looking at the bridgecam- I hope everybody is home safe and sound or staying put where they are for awhile. Be safe yoopers.

Unclle Chuck: After all those years of hearing about Grandpa at
Little Betsy, it sure was nice to see him.

Our relationships on these pages are a little strange. I've been reading about Grandpa Norm for many years. It wasn't until I saw the picture above that I realized we lived in the same subdivision and were members of the same church.
