The earliest explorations of Mackinac Island were around 1634. I see the Grand Hotel is giving visitors a chance to do some pre-season exploring of their own again this year in April (for only $175 a night). Edie and I did that a few years back, during which we saw the movie "Somewhere in Time", which had been filmed there. Today is the birthday of the leading lady in the film, as recounted in Day in History.
This time of year there are only around 500 residents on Mackinac Island. But when the peak season arrives, some days it swells to over 15,000. The second shot from Neil Harri reminds us that summer will come around again (although this time of year we may begin to doubt sometimes).
Have a good week :o)

Sorry, Ken, your note got overwritten with the correction. Thanks for pointing out the earlier glitch.

Just watched Somewhere in Time last night with my wife. If I don't get her to the Grand Hotel soon, I'll be in big trouble. Love the winter view.
