Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, January 31, 2009 - 07:04 am:

A new year begins, a new day dawns, yet we always remember the loved ones and friends that have left us along the way. This month we especially recall:

June Bergh
Vieno Hendrickson
Joanne "Joe-Joe" Rheault
Paulette Roy
Carl "Fred" Schafer
The brave servicemen and women who've given their all

Just a personal note about some of those mentioned here...

June Bergh was a grand lady who used to entertain the folks at Still Waters with her musical talents on the organ and was also a good friend to so many folks she touched.

Carl "Fred" Schafer, ran Fred's Barber Shop in Mohawk and when that closed down, he moved his operation to Still Waters for several years before retiring.

Paulette Roy, always had a smile for everyone, especially the many children she helped raise, while they're parents worked each day.
Feel free to add someone you'd like to remember on these pages. A special thanks to Brita Haapala for today's glowing sunrise to help us pause and remember.

In remembernce of my Mother Mary Viola Miron Brunk and her mother Cecilia Parr who both left this Earth in Januarys. My mother on January 8th, 1994 and her mother on January 26, 1967 I still remember that day when I went to visit my grandmother and she took ill. I asked her could I do anything for her and she replied "how bout a pot o'tea, my girl"?

In memory of my Grandma Kathryn Pastore as we begin our 2nd year without her in our lives. Kathryn was a very special person who wore many different hats as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and special friend. She touched many people, affected so many lives and she will always be remembered for her kindness and smiling face.

I miss you Grandma! Love, Joey

This month I remember my dad, Fritz Marsy, who passed away on
January 21, 2006. I think about him every day and miss that he
made me laugh about something every time I talked to him. I also
remember June Bergh from my Jacobsville days. She was a
wonderful, warm, caring woman who made the world a better

Wonderful picture of the sun setting behind the snow covered pine bough...
In memory of Alice Azalea Kemppainen who passed this week...
Also in memory of my Mom, June Dolores Koski Houle, gone since '06 and my Dad, Robert Elmer Houle, Sr who left us in Sept of '08... This past weekend would have been their 68th wedding anniversary.
"Hold fast to dreams,
for if dreams die,
life is a broken winged bird,
that cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams,
for if dreams go,
life is a barren field,
frozen with snow"

This week found the passing of our great brother-in-law Clarence "Pete" Thibodeau at his residence in Florida..Uncle Pete grew up out in Trap Rock Valley and was a Lake Linden graduate and served at the end of WW11 in China and Japan..He was there for us over the past 50 years as we all moved to the Detroit area and he served as our beacon. May he rest in peace.

I'd like to remember my Dad, Peter Pini, who died 15 years ago on Jan. 5th, 1994. Sure doesn't seem like he's been gone that long. He had a long wait, but Mom and him are together again. Sure do miss them both.

Just a note to add in memory of June Bergh. She was our faithful
organist at First Baptist Church in Calumet for many, many years.
She genuinely loved the Lord, and was a great role model. She was
also like a "second mother" in my growing up years. My sister
Lynn and I so enjoyed our visits for tea down at "Grandma June's"
cozy little house in Lake Linden in the summers. We will always
have good memories of her, and look forward to seeing her again

By Yooper in MN (Yooper_in_mn) on Thursday, March 5, 2009 - 09:22 am:
