When the winds are howling and the snow is blowing, it's nice to light the fireplace, along with a few candles and relax in front of a crackling fire. There's something about the glow from a flame that relaxes and mesmerizes, even in a photo like this from Peg Hardt. Looking at that first scene, makes me want to snuggle up with a blanket and a good book. Good thing I don't have a fireplace or I wouldn't get anything done.

Peg found another stress relieving scene with the setting of the sun in her second shot. I'd be happy curled up with a blanket watching that, too. Only it would have to be through a window so I wouldn't catch a chill. I can't think of a better way to relax on the weekend, than with the glow from a fire or from the setting sun.

A year ago I picked up a dvd on the 90% off table at Dollar General. It puts the look of a working fireplace on your TV screen! I gave it to my dtr. and she said it was pretty cool. They used it when they were decorating the tree, wrapping presents, etc.

Great pictures, Peg. The only thing missing is a cup of warm cocoa! ;>)

This really was our house when the power went out over a week ago. We used the fireplace for warmth, and the candles for lights. My kids asked if this is the way they "used to do it".

Great pictures Peg, If we were at LB right now though, Marty and Grampa Norm would have a few more logs on the fire then that, lol In fact, we'd probably have to be in our shorts, lol. Sure would be nice to be U.P. there right now, I could use some Lake Superior stress reduction!

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

I'm remembering my dad today. It's been a month since he died. Not a good day today. I keep remembering the phone call I've always dreaded. Gives me shivers!!

Actually, it was a month yesterday, but I didn't have a lot of time to think yesterday cuz I worked so many hours. Today's the day it's hitting.

What is that sticking out of the lampshade where the heart is?

Mary says: If you look at the close-up of the lamp shade here below, you can see that there isn't anything sticking out of the heart. What you're seeing is part of the opening for the heart cut-out on the opposite side of the lampshade, giving one the illusion of something sticking out of that opening.

Closer look...
