Let me introduce a newcomer to the Pasty Cam pages, this is Snickers! As you can see, she loves the Christmas greenery and wraps herself up in it like she's waiting for Santa to arrive. Brenda Leigh says that it's a Christmas tradition for Snickers to curl up in the fake greenery and take her afternoon nap. What a smart kitty she is, realizing the benefits of a mid-day nap. Maybe I should strive to be more like Snickers, only I wouldn't curl up in the decorations!
If Snickers is indeed awaiting Santa's arrival, then it's a good thing she doesn't live with Roger Kangas, since their tree is topped by a jolly looking St. Nicholas. I can't help but wonder what Snickers would do should she spy him sitting up there so high! :->

OH Mary! That looks like Jim's kitty! You brought him in out of the cold! 'Tis the season, eh?
Mary says: You're right, Deb...that kitty does look like Jim's! :->

We had to adopt my daughter's kitten a month ago as it was attacking her children. Now he's stalking and attacking me! My prelit Christmas tree has no ornaments on it and the kitten is managing to destroy it anyway. He climbs to the top daily. I can't put out many decorations, as he knocks them over. He travels to the top of the bookcase, the top of the computer desk, the windowsills, etc. I made spaces 3 feet wide for him to sit on the windowsills, but he still knocks everything off on either side of the space. During the night, he's on my dressing table scattering my makeup. Hopefully, he outgrows some of this, especially the attacking of me! (I carry my water bottle with me at all times to squirt him.)
Eight more inches of snow coming today, and freezing rain tomorrow. We usually don't get this much snow all season!

Snickers makes a nice tree ornament. However, trying to hang her there until after Christmas would be CATastrophic, Snickers Bar none.

Marsha,
I had to chuckle at your post, since my Son and his wife didn't put a tree up this year...he said you can either have a Christmas tree or a cat and they have a cat. Guess he was right! :->

I have 2 cats here, neither one of which bothers my tree. They are such nice kitties!!!!!

I only have a ceramic tree. My dog Sam won't bother anything but Charlie my cat (named after you Charlie) can't leave anything alone for a minute. He even climbs a potted palm tree.

A long time ago when Bob and I were newlyweds, I had a Siamese, she was part of the package for Bob, she had a litter of 4 Siamese kittens and they spent most of the time under our Christmas tree that Christmas napping under the lights. They never tried to violate the tree.

Mary wrote: "Maybe I should strive to be more like Snickers, only I wouldn't curl up in the decorations!" I don't know... When I was a kid, I liked to curl up under the Christmas tree and enjoy the twinkling lights overhead. I'd still do that if I could fit under there.... :)
On kitties and Christmas trees: A few years ago in the dead of night, my cat, who isn't much of a climber or jumper (she's more like a dog, actually), tried to climb the tree and it toppled over on top of her. Scared the bejeezus out of her (and me) and she never tried it again.

When I was a kid my dog, a big German Shepard named Crisco, had 9 puppies and my cat had 10 kittens- all at the same time. What my mom did as they were getting bigger was make a HUGE bowl of warm milk and oatmeal and place it in the center of the dining room floor. We had our tree in front of the plate glass window in the dining room and that is where everybody made their way to, when they were done eating. It was funny as all get up and go to see all those baby critters curled up under the tree on the tree skirt sleeping. At that point we really did not have to put any presents under the tree.;O))

Marsha, I had a cat like that once. Her name was Maniac Magee (after a children's book) and it was appropriate. She truly could climb walls. My vet said she was the smartest cat she'd ever seen. Sadly, she met an untimely end when she was still only a few years old; I've often wondered what she would have been like as an older cat.

My cat Charlie likes to climb the walls. He also tries to climb the sliding glass door to the balcony. He usually gets about half to three quarters of the way up before he realizes he can't climb a glass door.

Here in Berkley I am roomates with Jimmie the fat white cat. He only has one real annoying trait and that is shedding. He waits till someone comes in with black on and climbs all over them. As far as the tree goes, he messes with it he gets to live in the cellar with the spiders, rats, and all the other things that he is afraid of. Might be a few spiders but I just tell him about the others to keep him in line. Just got a box of Panda Licorice from Finland.Love that stuff. Worst thing he does is climb on your chest and stop you from breathing. Twenty two pounds of cat, probably twenty pounds of white hair. He has stopped winding between my legs while I am walking since he got his tail stepped on. He went and told Precious I did it on purpose. You know how cats like to keep their slaves in trouble.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, LISA WALTERS FOR POSTING THAT. I LOVED IT.
WHEN I HAD A COUPLE OF CATS, SMUDGE AND TERROR, I TOOK A LARGE PIZZA BOX AND PUT A THREAD SPOOL INSIDE THE BOX SO IT WOULD NOT CAVE IN. I CUT OUT A BUNCH OF CIRCLES ON THE TOP OF THE PIZZA BOX, JUST ENOUGH FOR THE CATS TO GET THEIR PAWS IN. THEN I PUT A PIECE OF WOOD ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX TO TIP BACK AND FORTH AND AROUND. THEN I PUT PING-PONG BALLS IN THE BOX AND MY CATS HAD A BALL WITH THAT. I HAVE A PICTURE OF ONE CAT ASLEEP ON THE BOX WITH HIS PAW IN THE BOX. THEY LOVED IT.

My newest Kitten LeeLoo, has to take a running leap from one room into the lower layers of the tree in my computer room. The last layer is flattened down and real roomy and comfy for her. Grrrrr..... But, my other two cats have never, ever bothered my Christmas trees. As they say, a penny saved is just another thing a cat will knock to the floor!

Such great stories about cats today! As well it should be with such great pictures. I have "7" cats and could tell you many stories...No, I don't put up a Christmas tree! I love them all all and also keep a spray bottle of water nearby ... it works wonders. Cats do own their owner for sure, I am well trained. I have "5" dogs outside (cats stay inside). My VET said Hawks would have them for lunch inside of two weeks out where I live, so they stay inside. This is a link to my site if you wish to view a movie card with music of pictures of all my dogs and cats, My Best Friends!
Lisa Walters: Cute kitties! The gray and white cat looks remarkably like my first cat, Savu. Unfortunately, Savu didn't see many Christmases. When she was about three years old, while I was at Tech, my parents let her out of the house one night and she disappeared. I suspect now that she was eaten by a coyote.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Our cat "Harley" would destroy a tree if we had one...once was enough! LOL

My wife and I have 2 K-9 Boxers named Trooper and Dottie, and we get Christmas presents 4 them, 2. They're so much a part of the family. Merry Christmas, everybody.
