You can almost hear the winds howling in these photos here today by Shawn and Brian Malone, with that spectacular spray of Lake Superior water spraying as it's dashed against the icy rocks. What a great capture, freezing the blue of the water in a split second as it's breaking over the shoreline.

Shawn says, "Ice will be in soon, there are very few days to get images of surf with a snowy shoreline. The contrast of some of the oldest geology in North America covered in snow really brings out the blues of Lake Superior."

The second photo shows more of that unbelievable blue as the wave is spilling the Big Lake waters over the crest before it meets the icy, snow-covered shore. Once again, Lake Superior is caught showing off her beauty.

These pictures are my favorite way of viewing Lake Superior...wild and roaring!

That looks like a nice pipeline forming for those gnarly surfer Dudes.

Those gnarly surfer dudes are going to be extra gnarly, knurled and numb when they hit those icy rocks. They're going to need some of that ice in packs on their bruises! I'm with Janie T. on viewing the lake, too. Nice pictures.

Wow. Those pictures really show why Superior is my favorite place on earth.
