Paco and Mittens are two of the critters that usually tag along with Joyce Tormala on their explorations. Whether it's a walk up the driveway to pick up the mail or on an excursion to the shores of Lake Superior, Joyce has a difficult time sneaking away without one or the other of these two coming along. That's quite a pose Mittens struck in the top photo. It almost looks like she's sliding down an incline, out of control with legs splayed in the air. I don't think that's the case, but it's fun to pretend it is and also imagine the squeal of "wheee..." that could be coming out of her mouth. :-> Then there's Paco with his back turned to Mittens' antics, acting like he's bored with the whole scene. Afterwards, Mittens sets off again in search of some adventure.

We had a cat named Mittens when I was a kid and one of her offspring was black and white like this Mittens and she had one blue eye and one green eye. I named her Diamonds. I've never had bigger or more beautiful diamonds since then.

Look at the extra toes on Mittens. When I was young we had a black and white cat named Skunky with two extra toes per paw arranged like opposable thumbs. He was able to get into cupboards and open doors using his thumbs, but never was able to master the can opener.

I love cats!! We used to have a kitten named Mittens, also. Anybody who likes cats has probably had one named that. It's such a cute name!!

I knew before I even got to the big picture those special 4 paws had to be part of the Tormala clan. Big smile from Idaho!

Wow, these pictures are awesome. I've had a cat before with the extra toes on the front paws. The black & white cats reminds me of my Otto who died in July :( , she was the 3rd cat we had. The 2 cats we have in the house now are sisters to the black & white one, and they hate the snow...I've taken them out on the porch and they scrambeled back to the door..guess they hate having cold and wet paws lol

Poor Joyce must feel like the pied piper when she goes out lol

Seeing alll of that snow is great ... reminds me of why I moved down here! I used to live in the Pontiac (Mich) area.

My sister had a cat and his front legs were shorter than his back legs. I felt kind of bad because when he took off running- sometimes he would roll over- head first.

Joyce......as soon as I saw the picture, I knew it was your.....I get such a kick out of your animals. My grandson who just got back from Bagdad is going out again this weekend to Afgan...keep him in our prayers....plz
