Yes, that's right, the ground in the U.P. is covered in white again and it didn't take anything more than that to convince Chris Gariepy to start up his snowmobile and take it for a quick spin around his property. But before he did that, he had his 6 year old son Jakob pose in the drivers seat. You can bet that little man was dreaming of the day he'll be driving that machine around the yard on his own. Chris then strapped on their helmets and high-tailed it around the yard, laying down tracks in the fresh snow. I'm not a snowmobiler myself, but from what I've read in John Dee's Snow Central journal, making tracks in fresh snow is something special! :->

WOW! Already???? Sure am glad we don't have any of that. It's bad enough that temps are down in the 30's. But gas is only $1.82/gallon. So when it is time to get the snowmobiles out, it won't cost so much to enjoy them. I know people who didn't go at all last year due to the high prices of gas. Somebody at work yesterday said they were thinking about hauling their pontoon in for a fill while gas is so cheap.

There are few things as good as that first ride. I wish we got snow down here in PA like I had growing up in the UP. Every year, I consider buying a new sled, and every year I talk myself out of it because we just don't get the snow to make it worthwhile.

Alright! Now we have the ultimate winter sport!! Lucky kid! Can't beat winter? Then join it, is my motto! Anxiously waiting to get our snowmobiles out!

Good Morning, All

Oh...how that makes me miss being UP there this time of year. I am promising myself that I will make the trip all the way from Tallahassee, FL sometime before all this beautiful snow is gone...hopefully in February for Winter Carnival. I can't wait to see the look on my 2 year old daughter's face to see the cold white stuff for the first time!
