Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 07:58 am:

We had a little snow up north overnight, though not quite as much as Mike Musiel's shot from a few years back at Fort Wilkins. I'm sure the boys felt like kings of the world, having the park all to themselves. Mike and his family have moved full time to Copper Harbor this fall, so I'm sure the kids will have the Fort to themselves more frequently now.

We started the three part series Pasty Cameo about Fort Wilkins quite a few weeks ago, when the days were longer and warmer. So much has transpired in the past couple of months, I could write a book about it. Though my voice isn't back 100%, at last here is the final chapter.

Along the way in the past few weeks we got to visit our new granddaughter and her parents. So in response to a multitude of requests (all from my wife) here are a few pictures:

NOVEMBER 9, 1973, MY BROTHER WAS 19 YEARS OLD WHEN HE DIED IN KOREA WHILE SERVING IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AND I STILL MISS HIM TO THIS DAY.

Charlie, I don't often write, but I look forward to new pasty cam photos everyday. I loved your "Today in History" and love your "Cameos." Through you, and Mary Drew, I have learned so much history of a part of the country I love to visit. Please know your work is greatly appreciated by many like me who often fail to let you know just how much. I have been to Fort Wilkins with our boy scout troop on the way to Isle Royale, but didn't know the history of the Fort. Thanks again for all you do and we are all glad you are feeling better.

Charlie,
Now those pictures show there is a VERY good reason to visit Logan! Again, Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

By Therese (Therese) on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 10:49 am:

I wasn't in time to put her name on last month's memorial, but my mother Dolores Carson died October 30, two weeks before her 92th birthday, after a slow peaceful decline. She had a stroke last March and another in June which took away her ability to read and to communicate clearly, and to understand the world around her. She spent this summer and fall in awe of the beauty around her. The last thing we did together was gather autumn leaves to press, with her in her wheelchair pointing to the most beautiful ones for me to pick up. The world is a colder place without her, but she will welcome me in Heaven when I follow her some day.

Oh Kira, such a little doll she is!

By Mooselover (Mooselover) on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 02:42 pm:

Kira is a beautiful little girl!

Therese--what a lovely tribute to your mother. How marvelous
that she continued to appreciate the beauty around her to the very
end. It sounds as if you were just as fortunate to have her for a
mother as she was to have you for a daughter,

Charlie--I'm glad you're feeling better. Thanks for sharing the
delightful photos of Kira, Becky and Edie. Looks like Edie is ready
to burst with pride.

Mickill Mouse, so sorry for your loss. Your brother was a big credit for fighting freedom for this country. I am so sorry for your loss.
My dad died at age 40 fighting for this country also. I miss him too. I think about him every single day of my life.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 06:24 pm:

SNOWMAN, I APPRECIATE THAT VERY MUCH, 'THANK YOU'

CHARLIE, THAT GRANDAUGHTER IS BEAUTIFUL. I LIKE THE PICTURE OF HER IN THE WALKER. SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE IS HAPPY WITH HER LITTLE FRIEND KEEPING HER COMPANY ;O))

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, November 9, 2008 - 10:41 pm:

SNOWMAN, I DO APOLOGIZE FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGEDGING YOUR FATHER. NO MATTER HOW MANY YEARS GO BY, YOU STILL REMEMBER THEM.

By Snowman (Snowman) on Monday, November 10, 2008 - 08:02 am:

Mickill Mouse, my father died when I was 8 years old, I miss him to this day. Thanks for your thoughts.
