Weeks ago we started a 3-part Pasty Cameo series on Fort Wilkins: its beginnings, military service, and present-day role as a State Park (yet to be completed, as of this morning). A few months back, Art Brabbs caught up with President Lincoln and the First Lady, along with several of the re-enactors who add such realism to each visitor's experience at Fort Wilkins. Edie and I were able to attend one of those reenactments in August.

This was the inspiration that prompted me to set out on a multiple week exploration of the Fort's history. Little did I know that unexpected travel and a round of Strep Throat would set-back completion of this journey. One way or another, we intend to close that loop with the final Pasty Cameo this week. Maybe by election day...
