Wow! It's hard to imagine that the pictures of the UP colors can get any better. But each new picture is better than the last. I am so grateful for this site so I can have a firsthand look at the most beautiful place in the world without having to buy any gas.

You're a bad one, Uncle Chuck. Have a great time Deb and Mr. Deb. We'll be UP too, but in the Ishpeming area. Marsha's there already. Lucky Duck.

Speaking of gas, it's $3.29 here in Lansing. Holy Wah!

They advetised gas for 2.99 at a station in the suburbs of Detroit. I came in on the very tale end of it on the news and did not hear where it was at. :O(((

Yes, that is the reference, to the needless killing of the moose in Ishpeming.
a useless loss of a great animal, which also put into jeopardy its 2 calves.
What I don;'t understand, as the authorities are now blaming the public for the deed, is why they didn't tell the people in the way to get out of the streets or face going to jail. Also, they could have told the schools to lockdown until the moose situation was under control. Very simple means instead of shooting the moose dead. They could have then herded the meese back into the woods. maybe they were just wandering around looking at how humans lived or something...probably got lost, or maybe the land there was once their ancestors foraging grounds, back prior to humans moving in. Who knows.

Yes, that certainly was a sorry turn of events. Seems like lots of people in the area are lodging protests against this action. I agree with Dave. There must have been another solution to this problem.

meese ... yes, it was humor...a little to go with what is otherwise a tragic event. mouse, moose, mice , meese, goose geese, ducks quack.
