Good job JH, two birds in one hand are better than one in the bush!!!

Good morning! Well, it's another dreary day here in MN. Where the heck was this rain when we so needed it in July? Oh well, I guess I'll just throw my clothes in the dryer. I sure wanted to hang my sheets out on the line. They smell so fresh that way.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

By Grace M Wetton (Gmw) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 12:26 pm:

Good afternoon everyone. 55 degrees and cloudy here in Houghton today. Sure had a lot of rain last night. Ground is very soggy now. Good day to stay inside and make lasagna for supper.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 01:27 pm:

It is only 72 degrees here with about 85% humidity. I am going to have to turn the central air on for awhile. :0).

By John W (Jwahtola) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 01:38 pm:

We got 4 1/10 inches of rain Friday through Sunday at 11:30 AM from Tropical Storm Lowell and now we are starting to get the rain from Hurricane Ike here in Hillsdale County. It is nice to get some rain as we have had only about 1 inch since mid July. I agree with Deb it is too late for the crops. I am hoping Ike will be nice and not give us the 3-5 inches they are saying.

By Charlotte, Mishawaka, IN (Charlotte61) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 02:48 pm:

JohnW, If the amount of rain here in Mishawaka,IN is any sign---you are in for a lot more rain. My rain gauge says since Friday evening we've gotten 7 3/4 inches of rain and it's still coming down. At South Bend the official reading for midnight Friday to midnight Saturday was 7.06 inches. Not that the flooding taking place isn't bad, just think of the problems had it been snow.

Here's hoping everyone stays safe.

I'm repeating this for those that may not have seen my post last night after 10:00 p.m.

NEWS FROM CAPT. PAUL and DR. NAT...

I just got off the phone with Capt. Paul, he wanted to let all the folks here on the Pasty Cam know that Dr. Nat and he have survived the storm just fine. They had minor damage, fences down, a few shingles off, but nothing to worry about. They are of course without power and don't know how long that will continue, as talk is that it could be weeks or possibly even a month. He said that they did have very powerful winds for about 18 hours straight and that they probably only slept a few hours for the night, but he wanted me to let everyone know they are fine. Now we can all give a collective sigh of relief! :->

"It is only 72 degrees here …"

Here?

Unless you either indicate in your message where "here" is, or include some geographical information in your profile (as John W (Jwahtola) has, we are going to be hard pressed to intuit where that might be!

By Carole (Carole) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 03:52 pm:

Glad to know that the Capt. and Dr. Nat are ok and have only minor damage. I thought about them often, especially hearing about some of the ordeals other people have to deal with down there.

To FRNash/PHX,AZ(Frnash)

It is now 76 degrees here and still humid. It is good to hear that the Capt. and Dr. Nat are doing as well as they are under the circumstances. :-).

By David Hiltunen (Davidcorrytontn) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 07:32 pm:

I think that went right over his/her head,Frank.

Been windy here today, where it is easy to find where here is, with 35 mph gusts. Went to the $ store for kites for the grand-daughters, Dora The Explorer was all that was left. What's up with that? We just flew kite's in March up North as a kid.

By maija in Commerce Township (Maija) on Sunday, September 14, 2008 - 07:34 pm:

I am fascinated by weather and agree with FRNash that it would be great if posters mentioned where they are when they mention weather data.

Here (motown area) seems we dodged the Ike bullet, but heavy rain predicted to continue all night w flooding in some areas. Can't complain!

By Danbury (Danbury) on Monday, September 15, 2008 - 03:27 am:

Good they're ok. Must've been scary.
Must say I wouldn't fancy going weeks or months without power. Ok, depends on which months.

Good photography. Lots of scenery of a late Summer Day, and historic, as the old photo of the urban line rail car shows. Thanks 4 sharing.
