Well, for sure Greg Burk had luck on his side when he decided to do some early morning hiking around what he calls the Hancock bluffs. He said that as soon as he spotted this rolling fog creeping down the Portage Canal, he headed over to Mont Ripley to capture the event as it unfolded. Greg didn't give me a time frame of how long it took the fog to make it's journey. But I'm betting it wasn't too long a stretch of time to envelope the bridge and then make the entire canal disappear right before your eyes. Now how's that for some Keweenaw magic? :->

WOW!! That was cool. The day we left, I snapped some shots from the ShopKo parking lot of some fog over the bridge. There sure wasn't that much though. Course, it was earlier in the season. It was still cool though. Nice pictures.

Very nice...reminds me of the movie "The Fog". Any weird people show up?

Being in the right place at the right time for some beautiful pics there! The icy, blue waters of Lake Superior always makes for beautiful pictures!

'tis a sight to behold, one I've been fortunate enough to witness many a time; Greg, thank you for capturing this in its entirety!

It would be strange to be driving across the bridge when that fog rolled in. Cool picture.

Mary, and all; So cool to have finally made the "big time" on my favorite yooper website. I can die now a happy, contended, fulfilled man.

These pics were from a lovely August 9th, 2008 morning, when I was hiking around above the bridge on the Hancock side of the Portage Canal. This cool looking fog was moving in VERY quickly, like it was on a conveyor belt above the water, and it took only about an hour to pass through, as I watched it roll in, . . .

Alex, . . . the only weird person around was ME.

Those pictures are cool. I caught some fog above the bridge as we were leaving the area on the 10th of August. It was a gorgeous sight. You could barely see the bridge. There is beauty of all kinds in the UP.
