We have many things to celebrate and be thankful for, living under the Red, White and Blue of this country. Take a moment today, to stop and really look at our national flag (supplied by Katie Tormala) and think about the independence we experience living in America. Remember that those freedoms we enjoy are due to the brave men and women that choose to serve our country in the armed forces, like Sgt. James Hoffman, who snapped the second photo while home on leave recently. Then dress up in your red, white and blue attire, like these folks spotted by Doug and Becky Grusser and have a happy and safe 4th of July celebration.

Happy 4th of July gang!!!! Hey! I have to wear a hat something like that today while driving the cart and pulling the float. We got most of it decorated yesterday and will put the finishing touches on today.

Yesterday we took the grandchildren out fishing and swimming from the boat and then to the carnival for the annual 4th of July tradition. n Then we went to the softball tournament which is also an annual 4th of July tradition. It was nice to spend the day with them.

Hope everybody has a great time today.

I found this in a 2003 edition of Ideals, and wanted 2 share it:

Pattern for the Flag
Bessie Saunders Spencer

I saw the sky with white and crimson bars;
Its dull-blue dome still held the sparkling stars.
Perhaps once, long ago, someone passed by
And saw this vivid pattern in the sky.
I hope they read in it a sacred sign
And planned and made our flag from God's design.
