The Hennepin - mentioned in Friday's Day in History - is a shipwreck that actually appears on the National Registry of Historic Places. I always thought it only applied to buildings.

Pasty Fest weekend is here! Open houses today at the Park Service and Library in Calumet, and the parade tomorrow before pasty lunch in Aggasiz park.

Morning! It's a miracle! It's friday and payday!

Good morning! I'm sure glad it's Friday, though this week went by fast since it's finally warm out. I love the Freda picture.

Good Morning. I usually don't get to Pasty Cam until late in the
evening. Hardly ever miss a day. I really think I am a Yooper at
heart. Late last night I sent an email, mentioning how Listerine
might work for Michigan mosquitos, but it seems to attract their
Illinois cousins. Anybody else find that to be true.

The Freda pic is now my wallpaper on my home computer. How beautiful...carved out of the wilderness. It's amazing that folks found their way there in the first place and decided to settle there.

I'm in the final stages of packing for an eight day trip to the UP,
and as always there's the hunt for just the right books, the
dusting off of the journal to which I always have such good
intentions to add thoughtful entries, the exercise equipment, the
right mix of clothes. Will this be the year I read the Kalevala?
The year I brush up my Finnish? Then comes the search for the
right mix of CDs to listen to as my dad and I drive to the UP--
WWII, White Water. a few classics and folk songs, some R & B.
Where will all of this stuff go? It's a good thing I don't need to
haul it back until the end of August.

It's summer and the UP is calling, and tomorrow round about
3:30 in the morning we will answer that call!
